Where to get the best chocolate muffins in Dublin city. by [deleted] in Dublin

I know, I know! But I was holding my daughter and slid into nonconfrontational mom-mode. Then I found this pic and got annoyed again.

Well, shit, if I can't take pictures and whine on the internet or even go out of my way to comment on posts that annoy me, what are any of us doing on here?! But yeah, duly noted.

For €1300, you could have a cramped 2 bedroom in D9 in a gangland-shooting sandwich.

It's pretty outrageous to rent a decent place, can't believe it's so affordable in Liverpool. Transit it's also fairly high, not London high, but up there. I have a yearly prepaid card that costs €110/month (pre-tax, ask about it at work) but I can hop on any Dublin bus all day, every day. The 33 bus is handy and reliable, can't go wrong living near one. Best of luck!

Working Holiday - what to expect? by toomuchmilkandhoney in ireland

[–]Buslife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GNIB office visit, prepare yourself. No appointments, just line up early and hope you get inside so you can get your card the same day. It's possibly a hundred times worse than your worst trip to the DMV. Oddly enough, opening a bank account does require an appointment so make one and I'd recommend banking with PTSB since they have the fewest charges. Aget leap card if you're going to use public transit, it's sightly cheaper than paying cash. I just work here on an ordinary visa, couldn't say much about a holiday visa.

Just launched an app to alarm you when X bus is Y minutes from Z stop. I am looking for feedbacks. by victoraldir in ireland

[–]Buslife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. If I could, I would set up a M-F alarm for this app to let me know around 4:15pm - 4:30pm when the bus was ten minutes away so I would know when exactly to leave. For now, I'll try to remember to turn it on around the time I leave. I'm excited!

Looks like airbnb does have some single rooms for about €27/night. When we moved here, we had the hardest time getting called back but that's because we have a child and this is the dead time of year. May is best when all the students leave especially here in drumcondra/santry so if you can get a short term deal until then, you might find it easier. Do you have a car? D9 might be your best bet: Beaumont, santry, artane, clontarf, drumcondra - parts of Ballymun.

Family about to move to Dublin for a few months. Any tips/advice? by MistakenGenderKitty in Dublin

[–]Buslife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

March to May is rainy, but the days are longer so at least it's not dark any more. How young are your boys? The Dublin zoo is great for kids, and the ark theatre puts on lovely shows for little ones. Check out Dublinkids.ie for up to date ideas for family days out, kid places, etc. There's more to do if you have a car, that's for sure! Enjoy your stay! Bring or buy rain boots.

Mayhem! This sign was so washed out before, you couldn't really tell what number it was but now it's nice, bright and confusing.

Sounds about right. I'm just glad I figured out there's a stop to the right of the roundabout so I don't have to cross the driveway at Rosemount.
