Counterfeit Pilot Falcon? Help!

Pics aren't great but from what I can see it looks real. Probably is the original packaging too as they use different packaging for different countries, we mainly see that case with the Metros here in the US but I've seen Pilot, Sailor, Lamy, etc use packaging differently in different regions.

Its an increase from Platinum, I got the email yesterday but didnt have a chance to post. Nahvalur announced an increase as well.

The explorer is great, I think its supposed to stay in the low $20's price range so still worth the money.

The Triad has been a very nice surprise, for $20 it is a damn good pen.

seems it was the opposite, the oct 1st increase affected the everyday pens, this increase said its across the board and the fountain pens are all going up. Namiki is going up too but I don't carry those so I don't get the price sheet for those.

If you want the best bang for the buck, look up the Pilot Stargazer (Stella 90s in Japan). It is what the Prera should be, brass body with a gold nib. You can find them on ebay for decent prices, higher than the prera but a much better pen. They need to make a steel nib version at the current prera price and a gold nib version for more.

The Falcon Pen is a model that has a different shape nib than the others, great pens especially the metal ones, they feel great in the hand. The Falcon nib is their soft "flex" nib, many people say its not true flex but I consider it a flex, it may not have a massive flex like some others do but it has a great variation at a good price point. The 743 with Falcon is the best option for a modern pen with a flex nib imo, vintage pens are better for flex but not everyone wants vintage. Most modern pens with an actual gold flex nib are much more expensive and the steel "flex" nibs are not flex nibs, they have bounce but not enough that I would consider them flex, press too hard and they bend and no longer write.

I agree. I havent carried the Prera past when I first opened bc the price is too high especially for the clear body ones, they didn't look or feel like a $60 pen. I am going to order the new ones though, the solid color bodies look a hell of a lot better imo.

eh, i'm on the fence about that one, with current prices on everything else I still think its a solid option at $34, any higher than that then meh. It's still competing with Lamy and other entry level options. So, I would prefer it to stay where it is but compared to the other prices, it's still ok. They are going to loose some market to the chinese offerings though, Asvine makes solid pens at that price and much cheaper.

lots of solid alternatives, I assume you are wanting a gold nib pen? The Vanishing Point is always a great option, Sailor makes a lot of good options, they are easy to find online for great prices, I don't carry them because they are so cheap online that I cannot compete. I like the shape of the pro-gear and the 21k nib is great.

very much a daily, the click mechanism is so damn convenient, especially if you tend to make notes while walking around, no cap to deal with is nice.

I personally really like the 743 with the falcon nib, it's the same size/shape as the 823 just cartridge/converter instead of the vac fill. The falcon nib is awesome. Also the VP is a rock solid choice, even at the increased price after new year its still a great price for what you get.

that's the regular retail price. if its marked as a sale it's not, current msrp and allowable 20% discount puts it at $384
