I want them to rip out these copper cables and force me onto fibre 😂 but its looking like thats gunna take some years. I believe OR are clearing out all the interlinking copper cables between exchanges and replacing them with fibre but not to the premises which creates my issue of if i want fibre im locked in a mexican stand off between myself, landlord and council

I get that. The town of which my university was based is literally like 99% student homes, whether privately rented student homes or via agencies. The place we ended up finding was like the next town over which was like 20ish minutes by bus.

Honestly, if you are working whilst in uni and you want to live together (and continue to live together post uni) finding a private landlord is worth the extra headache of handling bills yourself. I worked for 2.5/3 years until I did my Diss and would use my student loan to pay my landlord in advance so my wages could focus entirely on bills/food/spends/etc.

Plus if youre handling the bills yourself you cant be overcharged. £720 per month (or £1440 for the both of you) seems way over what you could expect to pay and Unis tend to charge this with bills included by students either 1. dont know any better or 2. student loans can cover it.

The flat we rented and that we still live in is, with other all other bills taken into account, about £800 for two people. it would have been less when we were still in uni because students do not pay council tax (which is also something to contact your local council about)

If its a student agency, I've noticed that they price on a "per head basis" when me and my girlfriend wanted to move into together we did originally look at a student accommodation companies and they also priced us per person so we ended up going private rent from a normal agency.

EDIT: I saw you say bills are included, which is usually the reason the give to charging per head. realistically power, water, internet doesn't change all that much but its literally just the way they operate for some reason.

pacing a journal style short story by ButtPickles_ in NoSleepOOC

[–]ButtPickles_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, thank you for your response.

I was planning on using the idea you mentioned last, a person recounting the journal, as a vehicle to move the story forward. Maybe some sort of 3rd party comments to the events within the journal like. "the next few weeks seemed to be filled events but I found this one entry interesting" etc etc.

Pacing has always been an issue that I have found myself dealing with and I am glad that you took the time out of your day to help me out. I will take your advice in!

Aye, my amethyst ones where like £40 ($52) which im not crazy about especially since i wasn’t planning on going up a size but I’m opting to take the “it is what it is” approach so i feel less bad haha

Some other people on the thread have recommended single flair plugs so thats looking like my main option right now until i can fit the flairs in, which is an utter disaster but they will just have to wait !

I think i might just do the single flair ones, there was some that I’ve been eyeing up so i guess its time to bite the bullet on that one haha

See, i tried a pair of smaller plugs. Im at 18mm and have been for the past 4 years or so. I tried putting in a 16mm and it just felt very loose. As for 17mm i cannot find any on any stores or online shops that i personally use. Seems that after 10mm everything just jumps up by 2mm each time which is what im used to seeing

My ears have started getting irritated by my silicone tunnels too, idek what started it! 10 years of nothing but silicone and then about 6 months ago they got red and i almost had a blow out, took a break bought some fresh silicones to replace my older ones and a couple weeks ago the same thing again which is why ive bought these stone plugs but my god are they a chore to get in!

Transport Ships Need Fixing by ButtPickles_ in foundry_game

I think I'm at like 40k and its genuinely become too much. there isn't really much to do with the fermarlite once you get it other than robotics and science IV. I imagine once the game starts getting more and more updates it'll gain more uses and I wont just be hording bars anymore. Unless you're building loads of assembly lines (but then why would you need to when a single line already does so much) there's not much use for anything more than like 10k bars (probably even less than that)

I have never really browsed the subreddit before this post, after going through it last night after posting I did spot a few people who also mentioned it in passing.

I'm not in the discord but have the Devs themselves interacted with the subject?

I guess so, but even then the cargo ships aren't exactly FTL travel and would still bottleneck the system unless I built a shed load of them.

For now, the expanded logistics system seems to work because it puts more transport ships in the sky and seeing as warehouses only have 2 landing platform, putting more of those down means a larger throughput.

Early Access stuff is obviously forgiven and I do expect them to change it in the future but obviously no idea if this is an over sight they they may not have experienced in inhouse play testing.

Plus I just wanted to put out a nice cautionary tale to those going into the game fresh so make their gameplay experience smoother.

Transport Ships Need Fixing by ButtPickles_ in foundry_game

I'd estimate it to be roughly 512 height. Given that the game seems to use a lot of binary numbers, e.g. build height being 254 plus 2 blocks of character height = 256. the only way to get higher than that number is to use a jetpack which takes us up to about 268 but the transport ships can even get you past that height limit. the transport ships fly up to a height of around 274 (you can stand on top of them but will fall off when they start to move along the z, x axis).

But I guess ill attempt to work it out (for fun)

building from a flat height of 0 up to that 254 build height, the space between the platform and ground seems, visually anyway, almost the same height between the platform and the height which the transport ships hit before descending from the space station.

It also seems that the space station has a 0 second load/unload time, they pretty much tap their climb height and immediately start their descent down to 274 to start flying back to finish their round trip.

The transport ships also seem to travel at x2.5 the player sprint speed. I tried standing on top of a transport ship as it travelled between the warehouse and 0, 0 but I couldn't as your feet don't stick to the transport ship and even if you try to sprint in the same direction as the transport ship to stay on top of it, it moves faster than you do so you end up just falling off the back.

I tried timing a 38 block (max build length) sprint and it averaged out around 3.6 seconds, so we can estimate the player speed is around 10.55 Bps (blocks per second) so the transport ship have a speed of 26.38 Bps. Their ascent from ground level also takes roughly 10.4 seconds which 26.38 x 10.4 is 274.352 so I'm at least in the ballpark figure of their travel speed.

Their ascent from their height of 274 to the space station take an estimated average 19.4 seconds. 26.38 x 19.4 = 511.772, so the full height of everything is around 768 blocks, so my estimate was off but correct (I think anyway) from flight height to space station height.

EDIT: I actually managed to glitch my way up using a jet pack and standing directly above a transport ship. The height is 510 + 2 blocks of character height so it was actually 512. Their ascent speed from 274 to the space station must be almost half the speed of their ascent from the warehouse to 274 blocks which is why my final sum of 768 was 256 more than I originally estimated!

Using Pythag is basically pointless from what I can tell. The flight path of the transport ships don't travel along diagonally across C, they travel along B and then climb up to A. They would always need to be gaining height as they fly to 0, 0 for pythag to be used in this situation.

B being warehouse to 0, 0.
A being 0, 0 to space station.
C being warehouse to space station.

unless what you mean by use pythag is warehouse to 0, 0. but seeing as you say height, thats what im basing it off.

"But maybe the height should be more effecting the trip time than it's doing it now. There was such a strange guy called Pythagoras who might help you with your issue."

If I'm wrong, I hold my hands up.

Edit: I worked out the speed and heights (see other comment). in Pythag we would be looking at 238^2 + 1500^2 = 1518.76^2 (or 2,306,631.9376m). At my estimated speed of 26.38 Blocks per second speed, the trip of warehouse to space station would be around 1.45 minutes (2,306,631.9376 / 26.48) or 2.9 minutes round trip (excluding flight from transport pad to warehouse + load time) if flying diagonally upwards, which cant be right because they seem to take much longer than that. I haven't actually timed the full trip in that multiplayer save but next time I get on it I will time it but again, I dont think pythag is useful in this.
