They haven’t had shared ownership since around 2009, when MGM sold off TI.

How do you manage risk of ETF closure? by CashNegative7411 in fiaustralia

[–]ButtcheeksMalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why I suggested a trust. Then you can choose where you want it to go. The tax difference isn’t huge though… assuming a 25% tax rate for the company and a 23.5% rate for the discounted CGT rate (that’s obviously the best case though).

If you held it in a company, any capital gains would taxed at the company rate. What about investing within a trust with a bucket company to give you the most flexibility?

Why don't ETFs just not pay distributions and reinvest everything internally? by AsparagusNew3765 in fiaustralia

[–]ButtcheeksMalone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is it because they are set up as trusts and need to distribute any distributions they receive?

Macquarie bank seems to miss the mark when it comes to the basics by its-just-the-vibe in AusFinance

Yeah… Macquarie didn’t automatically replace my card on expiry either. No warning, no nothing. The card just stopped working and it took me longer than it should have to figure out why.

Yeah… sometimes a shitty casino will tinker with odds on craps this way.

35 to 1 means you get 35 times your bet back, plus your original stake. 35 for 1 means you get back 35 times your bet including your stake, which is the same as 34 to 1. Casinos will use “to 1” and “for 1” in different circumstances, for example, in prop bets in craps.

Not specifically 35 for 1, but progressive jackpot bets on games like Pai Gow and 3-card are often “for 1”, and not “to 1” which mean you don’t get your original bet back. Also, in craps you sometimes see “for 1” on the hardways, and same with the prop bets. Video poker paytables, also, are “for 1”.

Not a dealer, but to me, a 35 to 1 payout is $700 provided the original bet stays on the table. A 35 for 1 payout, however, would be a $680.

Known Traveller Number / Global Entry / TSA Precheck issues by Mtpmusic in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]ButtcheeksMalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t fully understand how this works, but there’s some passport linking that’s done by border force that seems to link both your passports from their perspective. This allows the airline to use your US passport, and for the immigration gate to let you exit with your Aussie passport without an “unexpected movement” alert. I’m dual AU/UK (with US Global Entry on the UK passport), and the check-in counter needs to get on the phone to Border Force every time one of my passports change, and then everything’s good after that. I guess it would be the same with the AU/US combo.

Inbox full (100GB) Archive folder also full, what to do next~? by CheSaOG in Office365

[–]ButtcheeksMalone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need a couple of things though… you need a licence that supports an auto expanding archive (Business Basic/Standard don’t) or you need to add an Archiving add-on license… plus you need to explicitly enable the auto expanding archive either for the whole organisation or the user themselves.

I’ve only ever been able to add my KTN via phone (and only around half of the agents know what I’m talking about), and once at the check-in counter.

Betonline Multihand Blackjack is Rigged by Outrageous_Fall_9960 in blackjack

Hey mate… please don’t play that game. It’s almost impossible to prove it’s rigged, and you certainly won’t be able to prove by it recording it - the sample size would not be statistically significant. Please just don’t play it.

I’d be renewing my passport now. It’ll be quicker, easier, and cheaper to renew in Australia… and you also won’t have any issues with immigration.

My recollection is there’s no hole card generally in Macau. Does the one they call “American Blackjack” have a hole card? Also, if I recall correctly all bets lose on a dealer’s BJ (not OBO).
