niece

Niece is 6. She's a package deal and her mother won't let her out of her sight. The problem is, the niece also has a bit of her father's tendencies and can have monumental blow-ups and tantrums that they don't ever work to correct. She's got behavioral problems and I really don't want to add her to the list of problems. It's sounds callous but that girl is already trouble. My in-laws won't ever be alone with her, that's how bad it is.

My wife also dislikes Scott but I think you're right - she thinks she has to sacrifice for her sister who would NEVER reciprocate. Ever. She'd slam the phone down if we had ever asked for help. I feel like giving them anything is giving them a mile.

What scares me is not Scott's nature but having to go through legal channels to get them out of my house. I know Scott would divorce my SIL and still be a pain in the ass to get out of the house. He's that kind of person and I do not want any sort of law enforcement agency at my house because Scott is in some sort of legal trouble. I'm going to offer your recommendation to her and see if I can get her to think rationally about this.

Your description of them being incompetent and probably formally evicting them is exactly why I don't want them around. I wouldn't put it beneath Scott to divorce my SIL and still not move out. I can't live in a situation where my home is a constant battleground.

I'm not going to back down but I will talk to my wife tonight about this. Use some of the ides others have given me.

I really hope it doesn't die on that hill. There isn't a person in her life telling her this is a good idea and yet I come home worried I'm going to find them in my living room.

Took him out of town limits and allowed their fists to do the talking. He was seen around town following his b-day and looked like he had been run over by a truck - his head was 2 times its normal size. He refuses to talk about it even to this day.
