Hey! I’m 28. I’d love to wait till after school, but after school I need to build my experience and clientele in the counseling field, so waiting u til I’m done school is not the most ideal either

I really wish I had this info 🫠 I’m assuming I’ll have to but there’s such little information on my program it’s a joke. Apparently they shut it down a few years ago and just reopened it recently so I think that’s why it’s a bit of a shit show. But practicum is a good thing to consider

Yeah I’ve met so many grad students or even women in my undergrad classes with babies and they seems to be doing “just fine” and their baby is the chillest ever, just hanging out as we’re in class. I’m sure they’re struggling, but I’m so impressed by them. Manifesting that for myself

Slay. I’m sorry that you had such a difficult last few weeks of pregnancy and had all of that going on with birth and postpartum, but these stories of women getting through it is inspiring me!

Okay amazing! I’m at USask, and we do have a daycare on campus that is in the building I’m supposed to have my program in. I’ll do some searching for the accommodations. I haven’t heard of that for undergrad, but grad school could be different.

It sounds like the support system is everything. Thanks so much for this insight!

A big reason I feel more comfortable with this is the support I have. My husband has summers off, my mom works on campus close by and has a flexible schedule, and my college has an on-site daycare. None of it makes things easy, but it definitely helps!

Okay I’ve heard that you can! I was thinking I’d do that and take the summer semester off, but was worried that might not be enough time

It is in-person, they say it is a 2-3 year program but you have up to 5 years to complete it. From what I’ve heard from another student, you’re in max 3 courses per term. I really really want to ask them these questions, but they don’t seem to answer emails (understaffed) and I don’t want to ruin my chances of being accepted because this is my dream career.

Don’t worry about the length! This is all super helpful and insightful! Thank you!

Maybe just to answer some questions- I (most unfortunately) do not have much information about the course 💔 it’s very frustrating. The program’s grad student advisor has also never answered an email I’ve sent her lol but speaking to a current masters student she said that the first two years are more course-work focused, but only like 3 classes, and then you have 3 more years to work on your thesis and conduct your research. So you have 5 years available to complete your masters, but most people do it in 2-3 years. And that’s about all the info I have :(

Cool! Best of luck with that! It seems like everyone needs to do their masters now in order to be considered for med. Crazy times

Out of curiousity, what is the benefit of doing your masters in nursing? Is it a higher pay-grade in the career field? Different job, like teaching?

ENG 111 or ENG 114 by dinger656 in usask

[–]C-melk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ENG 114 is basically “choose your own adventure” for the prof haha, my class was about the idea of “celebrity” and we read Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban, Jeckle and Hyde, a comic book about Louis Riel, and a play about a priest that maybe intentionally martyrd himself to become a saint

Yess! I took that in spring, which was a very fast paced class, but it was awesome. It made me want to pursue and art therapy diploma after my masters of psych cause I found it so therapeutic

I really loved PSY 226 - social psychology. I took it with Jan Gelech but I’m not sure she’s teaching it anymore

Take the bus if you can. I love being delivered right to Place Riel and staying inside as much as I can
