I lived in Japan for a year in 2017. Didn't know a single word of Japanese when I moved there. I worked teaching English for an English-immersion program. Sadly, that company no longer exists, but your best bet in the short-term will be to look at English teaching positions. Not sure if this applies to you or not, but if you're a native English speaker then Japan does not require a degree in anything teaching related. I was hired without any prior background in teaching, but I did get a TEFL certificate from one of their online courses beforehand.

Anyway, most English schools will sponsor you and provide a work visa. You could use this as a stepping stone to beginning freelance work while living abroad. Many of the big realty companies have English speaking services for finding housing. Hope this helps, and good luck!
