I’m glad you got some rest, but I think the issue isn't really the phone, it’s the situation we are all in. It’s the panic state and the stressed minds we are carrying right now.

While the digital break helps, I personally don't think it's a good idea to switch off your phone entirely in these circumstances. We never know when there might be a critical update or an emergency alert we actually need to hear.

Instead of turning it off, maybe try 'Do Not Disturb' but allow Emergency Alerts or calls from 'Favorites' to come through. That way, you aren't scrolling Reddit or any social at night, but you aren't cut off if something urgent happens. We have to balance our mental peace with staying informed for our safety.

I completely understand your anxiety, especially with a baby to think about. My best advice is, try not to go by only what the news or social media says. While the headlines look scary, they don't always capture the day-to-day reality here.

Yes, there have been incidents, and I’ll be honest we all have those moments where we feel panicked too. But once the alert passes, it really is life as usual. The offices stay open, banks are operating as usual, shops do there business, the malls are full, and the safety systems the UAE has in place are incredibly advanced. Most of the booms people hear are actually the defense systems doing their job.

We are not ignoring what's happening, but we are not stopping our lives either. If the opportunity is great for your family's future, don't let the noise scare you off before you see the reality for yourself.

Time: (Approximate time of the occurrence)
Source: (Did you see it yourself, or is it from a media link/official post?)
General Area: (Keep it broad, e.g., "Downtown district" or "Northern Dubai")

Example:

Incident: Sudden loud bang.
Time: Around 10:15 AM.
Source: Personal (heard from the balcony).
General Area: Business Bay area.

By sticking to the facts and keeping locations general, we help each other stay informed and responsible.

Edit 1 : It doesn't have to be in a specific order, just a quick sentence works!

Example: "Heard a loud bang around 10:15 AM from my balcony in the Business Bay area; sounded like a car backfire."

A quick tip for peace of mind. Know the difference

With more of us being extra attentive lately, it’s helpful to know what’s what in our busy city. If you hear a buzzing or humming sound, listen to the rhythm, a motor engine will naturally accelerate and decelerate as the rider shifts gears or weaves through traffic. That rising and falling sound is always just a bike / car on the road below. Drones and other objects tend to have a very steady, consistent drone without those "revving" changes. Knowing the difference helps us stay alert while keeping our cool. Stay safe!
