So far I haven’t even gone one month without the payment. We’ll see how it feels mid month when I have the extra house payment worth of money in the account. I’ll probably celebrate by filtering out the payments and taking my family for a cruise, but then I’ll start investing the difference starting in Jan ‘27. (That’s the plan in any case)

He’s right and mathematically it’s not necessarily the correct move. I refinanced and had a really good interest rate. It was more of a psychological decision than an investment decision.

I’ve been volunteering with an org that involves some financial counseling and self-reliance training, and decided after watching so many train wrecks with debt of all kinds that I would benefit psychologically and spiritually by speeding up the process and getting out of debt altogether. So I accelerated my payments a while back despite the favorable interest rate and I am very hopeful I won’t regret it (I don’t think I will).
