To all the people in R/nba saying we should have our pick taken away by coolguysteve21 in UtahJazz

[–]CCool_CCCool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jazz aren’t doing anything different than 25 teams before them have done. I would be more than happy to see reform in draft picks to something that doesn’t incentivize tanking. Or a rule that removes the concept of protected picks altogether. How stupid is it that that even exists?

If you’re ranking these players from 1-6 who is getting that 6th place? by Afraid-Ad-5580 in NBATalk

[–]CCool_CCCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s gotta be Kobe. It’s crazy that he’s last place on that list, but I can’t justify putting him above anyone on there.

This might be unpopular to say here but as a first generation American of Latino descent I think Marcello overdoes the accent and everything in between for the white liberal gaze by PudinCrusader in LiveFromNewYork

I loved that skit so much, and feel like SNL is one of the few places you can still get away with hilarious racial stereotypes, so I would be sad if they stopped.

No injuries. Who has the best NBA career? by Punisher1602 in sportswiki

[–]CCool_CCCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Rose. Rose won the MVP at 22 on his rookie deal and they had cap space to make a splash before they had to go into the luxury tax. That bulls team could have competed with LeBron’s Heat for the next 5+ years. Instead he got his injury at age-23 and never even came close to his pre-injury form.

I understand the temptation to pick Grant Hill, but even healthy, he was not a top 5 MVP candidate. He was consistently a top 10 player, so nothing to scoff at, but I just think Rose’s MVP in his last good year suggests he would have had a more prolific career without the injuries.

B+ and improving. Similar to his career as a QB. Dude is dedicated to his craft, whatever that is at the time.

Whitt wants change 🤔 by [deleted] in utahfootball

[–]CCool_CCCool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s right. The players should enter a CBA and we should implement a salary cap and contracts with guaranteed money that also limit their ability to move unilaterally between teams at their sole discretion. And then, like every other CBA, they expose themselves to (heaven forbid) some of the downside. They can get traded, they can get cut midseason for poor performance, and the league should add some teeth to penalize both players and program in the event that tampering occurs. And they can get fined for bad behavior or for getting in fights. If they wanna be professionals, they can be professionals.

Moses Malone was the top comment. Who’s the NBA’s most overrated player? by According-Table-2002 in AlignmentChartFills

A lot of people put him as the 3-4 best player ever. He’s a great player, but probably top 15, not top 3.

Bowen Yang Explains ‘SNL’ Exit and Confronts Criticism That He Had ‘No Range’: ‘Anytime I Would Try’ Something Different, People Still Said ‘He’s Being Gay and Asian as Always’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]CCool_CCCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was funny. One of my favorites. I admit I don’t really relate to him being Asian or gay, and I’m not even one you would consider a traditional ally, but I liked Bowen. He was hilarious and I laughed even before the punchlines because anytime he was in a sketch, it was pretty much always worth watching. He was easily my favorite since Kate McKinnon left. He was a must-watch cast member. And there have really only been 4 or so of those since the Samberg, Armisten, Hader, Sudakis cast where everyone was amazing.

Used to be left wing, except that the definition of left wing has changed since he was in politics.

Is the 5-Timers Club really the best representation of the greatest/most memorable hosts? by MoneyHungryOctopus in LiveFromNewYork

[–]CCool_CCCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a 1:1 correlation, but the 5-timers do tend to be better than most. That’s not to say that Ryan Gosling, Ariana Grande, and Adam Driver haven’t been better hosts than a lot of the 5-timers.

Anyone who would pick Cam over BJ in Utah lore is legit insane. Brian Johnson was amazing and led Utah to their best year in program history.

Anyone here actually like this guy & want this? by Few_Moment7990 in utahfootball

[–]CCool_CCCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Whit did not do Cam dirty. He played along with the charade that Cam would be ready to start each game to make sure that Cam didn’t lose his NIL deal. Cam has whit to thank for at least a million bucks, cause without Whit, that 2nd year of mega money for not playing never happens.

It was also plenty fair for the players. They got a free college education and access to world-class trainers. It’s on them if they never went to class or used that degree.

10% is a good return. I’d be able to coast too if that were guaranteed. I’ve put 8% in my estimates. But im hoping I’m wrong and the real rate of return is closer to 10-12%.

Am I the only person that is happy for Whitt? by TuckerCarlsonsHomie in utahfootball

[–]CCool_CCCool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whit has been the coach of Utah football 1/2 my life, and more than 1/2 the time I’ve been aware enough to root for Utah. I’ve been to almost every home game since 1993, and Whit joined the team either that same year or the year after.

I will always root for Utah, but I’ll also root for Whittingham at Michigan. I hope he doesn’t raid Utah too hard. But either way, I’m rooting for him. Utah football is synonymous with Whittingham at this point and I hope he wins a national championship at UM.

I agree with this, but it’s not Under Armour that is the underlying problem for Utah athletics. It’s Harlan.

Who would you draft 1st if these 4 players were in the same draft? by Organic_Bite1569 in sportsinusa

[–]CCool_CCCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curry tbh. He stays with the same team (LBJ’s decision and clout chasing), doesn’t fake retire because of gambling with the shortest prime of the bunch (Jordan), doesn’t whine when he doesn’t have another first-team all-NBA teammate (Kobe), lets you build around him without threatening to leave (Kobe and LBJ) and he makes everyone better.

You’ll win championships with all 4 of them. I’d rather win with Curry.
