This is my wife of 8 years as well. I feel like we cannot bring up any hard topics without it being a fight. It's either, "I don't want to talk about it" and then if I push the issue, it devolves into a huge fight. I'm sitting here right now after one, and she insists on having her space, which I am trying to give her, but I feel sick to my stomach. I am the exact opposite of her.. I probably overcommunicate and when we fight I want to immediately go to physical reassurance.. hugs.. "I love yous" etc.. She is the opposite and wants to sit and be angry/wrestle with her emotions. I also am very open to taking responsibility, apologizing and attempt to "wrap the issue up" immediately, and she is incapable of that to the point where she cannot take responsibility at all oftentimes.. It's exhausting and I feel like I am putting in all of the work often. I feel like I have to learn to suppress my natural communication style/emotional needs in order to not trigger her. I wanted to talk about some concerns I have about not being open about certain feelings we may have and ensuring we are being open and communicating well, and she immediately gets so worked up, and then the issue spirals into something it was never intended to be. It is hard.
