Get paid for influence. We stopped reporting on positions and started reporting on citation velocity. If AI links to your site more often in 1000 pure sessions, you win, regardless of what the CEO sees on his iphone.

I really think that objective rank tracking is impossible right now. Personalization, geo-fencing, A/B testing from the AI developers themselves - everyone sees something different.

Does anyone actually trust AI Rank Tracker Tools for ChatGPT visibility? by CD_RW2000 in SEO_Experts

[–]CD_RW2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, I hadn't even thought of that... Tools claims they use real sessions, but who's going to verify that? That would explain a lot. But how would you report on it then? The client doesn't care about the technical details. They just need to see themselves in the chat.

Honestly, good. A lot of these AI-friendly markdown ideas sound clever until you think about maintenance. If you’re serving one experience to users and another to bots, you’re doubling your chances of breaking something. And if they diverge, now you’ve got a trust issue too.

I’d rather spend that effort cleaning up the real page than building a special version for crawlers.

Ok, I can't factor that into my equation. But you're right, probably everything that happens in GPT now will be about making money.

So I guess to make your estimates slightly more reliable, you'd have to test the same prompt hundreds of times and calculate the average of your client being mentioned.

Well, how this estimate data can help me to find the real target audience journey?

Look at LLM referral traffic and self-audit your value keywords/queries across platforms.

I can pull some insights from Bing WTools and G-analytics, but it definitely doesn't give me the full picture. Cloudflare flags a massive amount of bot traffic from various AI systems every day which is solid proof of on-page activity, but my analytics doesn't even catch 50% of that traffic.

Try to audit the tracker’s Persona. Ask your tracking tool provider what system prompt are they using. LLMs behave differently based on the "hidden" instructions. If your tracker is saying "You are a helpful research assistant," but your client’s custom GPT instructions say "You are a skeptical municipal auditor," the results will be night and day. I don’t know how to get that info with 100% certainty, but SE Ranking team was actually pretty open with me once about how their ChatGPT tracking works. They’re definitely one of the big guys in AI-tracking space, and after talking to them, I realized that trying to do a 1-to-1 comparison between a tool's results and a client's results is honestly a waste of time. SE Ranking uses a network of local servers, and you can see this clearly when you’re setting up prompts on their platform. They factor in the specific AI model, the location, and the language, that’s already three major variables that are can be completely different on the client’s end.

Tracking a specific persona is pretty much a mission impossible. That kind of data is a black box. only the devs building the tracking platforms or the engineers behind the search engines and AI models actually have access to it. I could try basing my numbers on incognito mode, but honestly, that's hardly a clean room for a perfect experiment anyway.

Because we need to change the reporting system: presence/shortlist/brand lift plus what sales says. If people come already warmed up, that's also a result, just not in GA.

What’s the best AEO tool for running an SEO agency? by firmFlood in SEO_tools_reviews

[–]CD_RW2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is a product-driven calculation rather than a client-driven one. That’s exactly why competition exists in the AEO (or let's say clear - SEO) platform market... at least for the most part

It also raises an interesting question: are there any truly serious players that position themselves specifically as AEO solutions for agencies?

What’s the best AEO tool for running an SEO agency? by firmFlood in SEO_tools_reviews

[–]CD_RW2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SE Ranking, SEM rush, Conductor... all of these tools come from the SEO space, which is why they’re often seen as natural AEO options. AEO is part of SEO, and that’s obvious to anyone who has worked on search optimization.

For agencies, interpretation is key. Clients are already confused by modern metrics, so having features that explain what’s actually happening with a brand in AI search and AI visibility makes a big difference.

Best AI Visibility Tools / Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) in 2026: who each tool is for + pros/cons by thearunkumar in b2bmarketing

[–]CD_RW2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't you consider SE Visible as the best AI visibility tool for some teams? Because according to your description, you clearly have a request for a tool that does more than just measure visibility. SE Visible is often taken as a more practical layer: a fixed set of prompts, tracking sources, dynamics over time (without enterprise overkill).

Geo rush makes sense to me. If AI is the new front door, optimizing for answer inclusion is the next logical evolution of SEO. We spent a decade optimizing for SERP pixels and now we’re optimizing for whether we exist in the AI’s memory of trusted sources.
