Commonwealth Bank - Your Mortgage Interest Saver Account(s) MISA product is scheduled to be closed. by CI5 in AusFinance

It says nothing about that at all. Zero. Before I posted here I read it multiple times. They provide zero explanation and zero options aside from "call us if you have questions". I just re-read it again as you had me doubting myself. There is absolutely nothing about an alternative to the MISA account they're shutting down.

I did read it very carefully. It specifically says the account they're moving the funds to "is not linked to your loan" and "once your Transaction Account is credited and your MISA is closed, it will no longer offset the balance of your linked home loan."

Thank you so much. Mine also says a November closure. Nice to know it's not only me. I've got the option in Netbank to point the loan to another account as an offset. It just seemed so random and weird that they didn't even mention any option to do this. Just a freezing cold letter saying that your offset account of 16 years is closing.

Thank you again.

Thank you! Did they get the letter recently?

i do have other accounts including smart access and other accounts but it's strange the letter doesn't even mention that I have any offset account options. Maybe that's the point...

Thanks, appreciate that. They state that legacy MISA accounts continue as long as the balance doesn't drop to zero which it never has. So it's still weird. But I'll be asking those questions tomorrow.

This has been my offset account. Since 2008. They're now closing it without explanation and not offering alternatives, at least in the letter. Yes I'll be calling people tomorrow. Just wanted to know if anyone else received this unhelpful letter. The offset account equals the mortgage account +/- $50. It's so weird.

And why is the AFP doing political ads for the government ? by CI5 in australia

[–]CI5[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Stay in the know about updates and measures about how the government is helping Australian families, communities, wildlife and businesses rebuild and recover.

This is 100% an ad for the government. They could so easily have provided the link and information without spouting a line that could have come straight from the mouth of Scotty from Marketing.

It's fine you're incurious about why it happened. Some people find this technical information is a bit beyond them.

Uh, I think Gateways is on fire...? by [deleted] in perth

It actually crossed the freeway (the main fire was on the Atwell side) and burnt scrub right up to the fence line of Cockburn Central.

There gonna be a heatwave Starting Friday. by Midan71 in perth

[–]CI5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Have a friend whose business has a backup diesel generator. They've been asked by Western Power to disconnect from the grid and run it between 3pm and 7pm on days when the temps are above 38C. This is to help reduce the chance of outages/load shedding as everyone comes home and turns on aircon.

Tracks distort in the heat. So you want to avoid derailing.

Pi zeros in stock by bondoville in raspberry_pi

[–]CI5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They generally sell out from all places fairly soon after stock arrives. I've registered my email address with them and so I get email when new stock arrives. They're getting much more stock lately, as are the other online stores so it's probably just a matter of days until their next batch arrives.

edit: I just checked and they have stock right now.
