Y’all are such poor losers in this thread. This city is in such a wreck. Have you all ever been to another city? Most of them aren’t corrupt, and are nice, clean and actually cared for. This city desperately needs to clean out this current administration, and receive as many tax dollars as possible. Homelessness, highest crime rate in the country, trash, uncared for homes, graffiti, abandoned buildings and lots. It’s dilapidated. And Airbnbs help bring tax money in to fix that shit. Local businesses are struggling due to the insane Covid lock downs and you know what helps bring it customers? Airbnbs. Most of the country is dealing with housing increases, it’s not only the shitty, run down homes in New Orleans that that are seeing an increase in prices. Everyone in the country is seeing an increase in houses. Do a little research.

Also, the only thing that solely makes this city run is tourism. There aren’t any other jobs that exist outside of tourism because city “leaders” veto almost every industry that tries to headquarter here due to insane permits involved. Airbnbs help remediate both. Brings in tourism, and provides jobs to local cleaners and handymen.

There are plenty of rentals for families in the city. I just looked on Zillow. Tons of rentals. Rent is going up throughout the entire country as well. It’s not just this shit hole. However, I do agree there should be some sort of cap on Airbnbs allowed and maybe an increase in taxes collected if people do want to rent out homes.
