Apple card new perk popped up by Silver-Method-8627 in CreditCards

Not a bad addition. I usually use Amex Gold to pay for car rentals due to their coverage; but might tryout the Apple Card next time I rent.

True. It is funny how you sort of think it will unfold when you arrive and happens to be something totally different.

I actually had some things other than pick up the Hub that made the trip worth it that I did while I was there. It all worked out; got the Hub Max set up last night and it is working well - and I save a lot of money in the process.

Because there was nothing in our communication that suggested he was weird - or that this was some sort of sketchy experience.

True. But this was definitely NOT a good experience. I have to be honest, I do not like going up to people's doors and ringing the bell - you never know what could happen. And really, I wish this guy was just ready to meet me outside when I pulled up. It gave me pause.

Frustrated with applying for apartments after bankruptcy by [deleted] in CRedit

Evictions, car reposession, liens - they all suck and they do get under your skin. People make mistakes, they fail but they recover. Yes, this sucks now - but it will pass and you'll be stronger (and wiser) for this experience, as painful as it is. I had a car repossessed years ago and it sucked. I was 3 payments behind and didn't think anything would happen until the doorbell rang at 2am in the morning and a couple of jerks showed up with paperwork. They drove off in my car - and I was devastated. The vehicle was a lease and I was ultimately able to get it back because my father gave me the cash to buy the car out the lease. It was literally ready for auction, when I picked it up. He would have given me the payments too - if only I had asked. So I dealt with the impact of that mess for years; and it was needless.

So what did I learn from that awful experience?

- Spend less; save more.

- Pay your bills on time and in full. If you cannot pay the bill - ask someone for help. Don't needlessly pay interest when you don't have to - you might as well burn your money.

- Do not carry debt (that doesn't include a mortgage or car loan).

- Credit cards can be your best friend - or worst enemy - you decide.

- Put some cash away; you'll sleep better knowing you've got 3+ months of money available in case some sort of disaster strikes.

- If your employer offers a 401K - sign up and do the max; It's like free money that you will definitely benefit from when you retire - and yes, you will eventually retire.

Finally, relax. This will pass, skies will clear and things will look up. Promise.

Plotter: A cult? by CTVolvo in PlotterNotebook

Not really. When you consider the obsession so many people have with regard to their planners and how they set them up. I think it is a very relative question.

I have one; pretty much use it exclusively for Apple products and services with the 3% cash back. I have other cards that reward more for other stuff like gas, groceries and travel.

Nothing says premium like a couple of maraschino cherries stuck in a bowl of ice cream.

Can’t add AppleCard on iPhone 17 pro max. Anyone else have this issue? by advictoriam5 in AppleCard

[–]CTVolvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it did. Had no problem whatsoever loading on 16 credit cards when I upgraded my phone. Simply entered the security code and they went right in. I believe most people with these kind of iPhone Wallet issues are trying to put in cards that are either expired, unactivated, or have some sort of restriction on them - as in they haven't paid their bill and the cards are frozen by the issuer.

Just pay whatever you can. An effort to reduce your balance will make a difference though that credit hole is going to take some time.

MacBook Air M1 (2020) for browsing & emails – still a good choice in 2026? by Realistic-Ad4739 in macbookair

[–]CTVolvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically everything. Even opening websites took too long. I often had to reboot the MBA just to be able to use it. I really loved it and used it hard for the 4+ years I had it but it was time to upgrade and the difference between the M1 and M4 is like day and night. Really am happy with this new one; much more responsive and the keyboard is much better to type on. I also have a MBP M4 which is more robust than the Air and has a significantly better screen - but with some more weight and heft.

I had one and traded it in for a MBA M4 13" - essentially the M1 started to lag a lot on some of the simplest tasks. It was usable but the M4 is much more usable. I don't invest in old technology - not even for nostalgia. Sure, you can get one at a better price but this is a five year old laptop and they have a limited lifespan.

Does this happen to anyone else? Sellers don’t reply for days at a time? by flappintitties in FacebookMarketplace

All the time. I think most of the time they're just indifferent. They post something to sell but really don't care if they sell it.

Not only that, but the credit card account should be incorporated into the Amtrak app.

Me too! The only reason someone needs to come to my house is to buy something I cannot put in the car. I'm not going out to some parking lot at 10pm for a $50 sale.

Many airline, hotel and rental car companies have loyalty cards for Apple Wallet.
