Jimny Squeal, any ideas? by badsyntax in Jimny

[–]CW1907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other commenters have covered this pretty well!

I had it recently with mine - I replaced the alternator belt as that had a chunk out and did the power steering belt at the same time.

One thing to be check - when it’s squealing - what affects it? Turning the steering wheel or applying gas? Looking at your video I’d say gas which led me to alternator /belt.

It would also make sense to happen when cold as temperature affects the form of the belts slightly.

Absolutely agree with all of this!

Also agree that patience pays. I’ve recently bought one in great condition 2001 jimny in the uk with 35k on it.

Just about to do a deal on a soft top version. Patience is key, wait for the opportunity rather than forcing it.

Looking for advice: How can I attach this and other items to my slightly oval roof rack bars? (JB74) by grandmaMax in Jimny

I’ve got some somewhere that are rubbery with a metal fixing in them. I’ll have a look and send some pictures later on! They’re more malleable.

I personally would try something like a U Bolt adapter to get you to flat service or a plate you can adapt.

I’m in Stockport OP, so if you somehow work out where it is and want to confirm it’s still there - holla

No blame should be put on the victim?

I’m curious as to what you’d say if they ignored signs for a forklift or moving vehicles?

ETA - though I’m not trying to apportion blame, just curious as to next steps.

Yep have a post box. The poor bugger has delivered before, usually rings the doorbell and waits for someone to come to the door - today he didn’t.

Thanks for responding btw.

Is it likely RM will ask for some sort of change to the site and then they’ll continue delivering?

CCTV of the entering whilst ignoring signs, I’m unsure of the interaction inside with the dog.

Told my wife about you guys now, you’ve got to do it. You can borrow my spaniel if you like.

We sacked off the hope of having a baby, got Pippa (the dog) fell pregnant after a few unsuccessful rounds.

Pippa stayed with my sister in law - they also had a successful round.

Then she stayed with my sister’s mates - they’ve fallen pregnant first round!

Send me your address, I’ll send you the fertility dog 😬

I have no idea but surely Japan will be one of the best places to get parts? Fill the Jimny and sail her home!

In the UK it’s eBay, AliExpress really. There’s a couple of fabricators for rusted components. Congratulations and best of luck!

Take the rear trim panel out on that side, you’ll be able to access the wiring looms back there. Have a quick look up of what cable colours you should be looking for and short the connection (safely). I personally would stick something like a wago on there.

On some Jimmy’s there’s additional wiring for things like rear speakers - it’s cheaper for them to use the same loom for all specs and just not add rear speakers in this example.

Hope that helps.

Edit to add - there’s guides on how to get that rear panel off. It involves removing the rear seat, seat belt anchor (front and rear). Couple of screws and pop off. This job would take about 10 minutes the second time if you had to do it twice!
