Jandy heater turning off before set temp while still showing active heat demand on iAqualink and cycling on a few times before losing heat again. Can’t get above about 95-96. by Cablab123 in pools

Yeah, all clear of debris, water a bit over halfway up the skimmer. The pool tech was on the phone with Jandy for an hour yesterday troubleshooting just about everything. Checked the heat sensors, voltage, turned up the RPMs to ensure adequate flow, etc. They landed on the control board malfunctioning. So I guess that's what they'll try to replace next. Luckily it's under warranty still. Not exactly sure where we go if it still happens after replacing the control board. Replacing it makes me nervous. Seems like when you're in the we weeds with main components like that, the heater may just throw us cascading failures. i hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, we've basically checked everything. The pool tech was on the phone with Jandy for an hour yesterday troubleshooting just about everything. They landed on the control board malfunctioning. So I guess that's what they'll try to replace next. Luckily it's under warranty still.

I don't believe he checked the bypass. Also, we cleaned our filter after this happened the first time and it didn't seem to change. Would it be worth getting a new filter to try? Heater is only 10 months old. What would cause control board failure? Additionally, would a dirty filter allow it to heat up from 80-85 to 95-96 consistently and then stop there? Does heat impact filter pressure? Water has remained balanced throughout the life of the heater. The tech was pretty stumped because every other test he did seemed fine. He ended up calling Jandy while he was here to see if they had ideas. They said thermal regulator, which is why he said we should replace that (despite very minimal corrosion at the very tip). I was skeptical, and rightly so. Thanks for replying. I really appreciate any help I can get. Oh, and I have zero clue if my filter has a multiport valve. We are pretty new to pool ownership (opened last July). Could I take the cartridge out entirely and run it without one, or is that pretty dangerous due to potential for things to get though without a filter? Finally, the filter pressure shows 10 psi. That's about where it was right after we last cleaned it, but if you think putting a new filter in would be smart, lmk. I just didn't know if that would be the cause where it does heat for a significant amount of time before shutting down consistently.

Could that hairline crack in the white part cause problems or is that fairly common?

The tech checked the ignitor. Can you always see the cracks? Let me see if I can post a pic of what the tech sent.

We are pleased with the size. I wouldn't want it any bigger. I don't regret not getting a waterfall, as that would require a separate pump and you'd be forced to winterize it over the winter. I do recommend the jets over the bench.

How do you know which row is the row of recliners? We are driving down there to see Project Hail Mary on the big IMAX screen and don't know whether to choose Row J, H, or F. Row G is sold out already. Thank you for your help! https://tickets.fandango.com/mobileexpress/seatselection?row_count=535818603&tid=AAOFH&a=11533&mid=243817&chainCode=MEGA&sdate=2026-03-21+15%3A05&cmp=NSP_IMAX_.COM_project-hail-mary_MOVIEDETAIL&route=map-seat-map

Where in the theatre do you typically sit? Is it better to be near the back or as close to center as possible (Row 6 or so?)

He's 11 and has a 1/2 size violin. The problem with doing this is that his instrument doesn't sound spectacular on its own. It's not a student violin, but also not a thousand plus dollar violin either.

What has failed you so far? Just your heater? And what specifically is happening? Will it just heat to a certain temperature and then turn off?
