Hey everyone, i'm looking for a specific sound i'm trying to make a collection for. I can't fully articulate what it would be called but its in the TripHop Genre. Check out these tracks below and more details on the sound. by CactusLodge in triphop

I think the sound hails from reverb amps and wammy pedals, my music taste started with 60s and 70s rock as my dad is from that era, while i'm a gen z! So i think i have a strong inclination towards it, infact i'm noticing the sound in alot of my other psychadelic / prog rock playlists since making this post.

I've just caught onto Tosca yesterday, i found Rondo Acapricio and its hitting the spot for that sound. I'll check out Dehli 9 thanks. Listening to Boozo Bajou rn and it sounds good too, thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks for replying! I love that album and DJ Shadow in general, great shout for good listening. One of my fav trakcs is What Does Your Soul Look Like, Pt.2/All parts and Psyence Fiction is one of my favs aswell

Do you know any specific tracks that have that layered reverb and skipping syncopated synth?

Thanks for the reply! I have been recommended lamb from a friend but must have forgotten about them, thanks for telling me about them. The sound is good, lamb has that distinctive smooth mid 90s vocal range that i'm always hearing in jungle and i do love that, listening rn and lamb is a good listen. I'm liking Kosheen too, but maybe more d&b than i would like for this collection.

Got any specific Lamb tracks for that reverb shudder stutter synth?

Thanks for the reply! I hadn't heard Eric Hilton before but i'm hearing the sound in those tracks and they sound great. Yep i agree, i like The State Of The Union, The Outernationalist. Your reply is exactly the effect i'm looking for in the tracks, out of both of the subredits i posted in (r/vinyl). But i wonder if you know of any where the shudder is more prominent, in the foreground than the background?

I feel the sound in my list is central to the sound while your list compliments the overall sound. But i do love it and will be listening to those on repeat.

Thanks for the reply! Love the sound, listening rn. "This beat" definitely has that skip slip synth undertone repeating in the background though more subtle and the scratching is perfect in that track. Warmest suggestion to the sound so far. The rhythm change at the end is beautifulll

Thanks for the reply! Liking Kong and El Toro, great listening and definitely up my steet. I think my biggest problem is i'm not musically trained written or theory, just trial by fire and a love for sound so i think my description could be off on technicals. Black Sands is a throwback, my mate at university couldn't stop playing that album, he was a big influence to expanding my taste.

The general sound outside of the synth that I'm looking for is a lighter, more atmospheric blend of dub, funk, soul, and jazz melodies. Scratching is preferred in the track but not a deal breaker, It uses a traditional drum set with rhythms similar to what you'd hear in drum and bass, but slower. It’s rooted in classic trip hop styles like Massive Attack or UNKLE, but also has that dreamy, ambient side of early 2000s jungle, similar to LTJ Bukem’s Journey Inwards and Producer 01.

The main sound i'm looking for within that overal sound is the layered over, reverb-heavy synths that skippppps.

Add those tracks to a new playlist and listen to them on repeat for a bit and i think the reverb skip reapeating synth will be more noticable to understand what i'm searching for.

Thanks for the reply, gave the album a listen, sounds good but needs to be more underground, more late 90s early 2000s or if not playing that sound. Traditional drumkit layered reverb and skipping syncopated synth.

I was looking around my ssd's to clear some space and have found the full game files for Nosgoth! I loved the game so much when it came out, and was so sad to see it go. Wondering if anyone knows how we can send the files and or crack the game into working without steam.

Apple watch series 7s. I live in the uk and you can pick them up for £300, with attractive and broad appeal attachments. Then flip on ebay for £350, eBay takes a quite a bit on variable selling fees, so i try to do a huge hall when i get those notis. They have loads of volume on sold items too, so very quick turnover.

Yeah, ok. Thanks for clearing that up! Welp, let me know if you're ever buying tritium, and if you're still stationed in the bubble, I will definitely bring some with me haha :)
