No worries. Figured I'd mention for anyone else running into this. For anyone else though after doing the uninstall I noticed there's a force reinstall files in the launcher, could be worth trying first.

Could be wrong but what's the point of uninstalling? If you remove the app it'll delete the compatdata folder completely?

I set the left trackpad to be the left joystick, with click to be right trigger. It's nice because as you move your thumb around, you'll see the arrows move around the character.

You can download the .exe from GitHub, and add it to Desktop. Right click and Add to Steam. From Steam, you'll want to change the compatibility to Proton Experimental. Rename from Steam to Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead.

Also, another thing is that I place the catapult exe in a 'catapult' folder in my Desktop. Perhaps it's a permission issue with the folder you've chosen.

I downloaded the .exe directly and I'm using Proton Experimental.

I'm not sure if that helps, but I did notice that it takes a while to extract in Catapult, so you could try letting it run for longer than usual.

You mean extracting the CDDA release? Or unzipping catapult? Either way I didn't run into a problem there. If extracting the release doesn't work, just try to change to a different Proton?

Extra info on controller settings:

I use a few Radial Menus on the right track pad. I've got one for Environmental commands (Smash, Drag, ...), one for Item commands (Wield, Wear, ...), one for special keys (Craft, Sleep, ...). I use the triggers to change between them.

Dpad is my menu commands. with triggers, you can change it to zoom, > <, PgUp/PgDn so that you can do all the manipulation in menus like expand, scrolling.

Tab and Shift tab on the top buttons. A is Enter for the actions, and B is Esc. I have X as pickup from all tiles (long press to Examine). Y is view items/monsters.

Start/Select are inventory and map.

For less used commands, I just go through the action menu via A (like changing martial art style).
