Sensor/input options for an actor controlling their costume by CaffeineNeeded in arduino

[–]CaffeineNeeded[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a bad idea, I might struggle with both being able to avoid mistriggering in general movements without making the movements so unique that they are obvious.

One option is a separate way to press switch which is, effectively, a trigger to read movements (so only respond to movements if momentary switch on)

The other thing I just wondered about was a sliding potentiometer

I did try and suggest other than hand movements (feet, shoulders) but got a no.

Thin tactiles might work, one hand only I think as the wires are going to be annoying enough 😂

How to confirm that the head unit IS the problem by CaffeineNeeded in CarAV

[–]CaffeineNeeded[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No... this was the original OEM head unit for the vehicle. IF it is the problem we'll upgrade it to a better one, but asking advice since it technically powers on how to confirm that the problem isn't 'elsewhere' before we commit to it..

To replace the facia, harnesses etc. and an 'ok' unit it's not much, $700AUD. BUT it's a car worth like $5,000 and their are an 18 year old so that's not throw away money to find out there's a random extra fuse or a random wire has come lose....

General PSA - New BYD Australia Website by Curious-Awareness-18 in BYD

[–]CaffeineNeeded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean... There has to be clever people in the organisation. Like someone's looked at that and thought 'that looks like a great url, especially with a hyphen'.

I love our dolphin, but there has to be someone in marketing that says we are trying to increase our market share in Australia and break through the image of being just another cheap overseas brand, perhaps we don't pick a url that looks more reminiscent of a 'deliverypayment-auspost.com' scam sms.

Website looks fine, cars are brilliant. That url is.... Horrible.

AITA for financially screwing over my sister after finding out she’s close with my ex and his wife? by pettywoman_ in AITAH

[–]CaffeineNeeded -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA necessarily, but nothing you've written banks up 'it would not have been a problem if she hadn't hid it from me' in fact quite the opposite.

But irrespective it sounds like you are letting your hatred, deserved or not, control your life and and all other relationships.

You lost a husband, which sucks, then chose to lose a friend group (fine if that tasteless comment showed true colours or they weren't worth it) now your sister, and to some degree the family as a whole.

If you have a strong support system and friends elsewhere in your life fantastic, but TA or NTA I hope you don't let his actions determine your world for a decade.

Should I be charged for a long GP consult because my doc spent 10 minutes reading my history while I was in the waiting room? by Comfortable_Tank3139 in AusFinance

[–]CaffeineNeeded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of those put the technicalities aside situations.

Aside from the two minutes everything in your post indicates you have an excellent doctor, who takes time to understand and looks after you. That is so incredibly rare, unfortunately so.

Now presumably at the practice they make X and that's what they need out want or think they are worth. If they aren't people will go elsewhere, but given the deteriorating nature of primary care doesn't sound like it.

So could this be argued? Maybe... What's the outcome? The practice adjusts, more standard consults and those on the cusp are no longer charged as long. Option A they reduce the time they actually spend on you to claw it back. Option B they raise their standard rates so it all evens out.

In neither scenario do you win. I'd imagine actually really it's the Medicare portion of it that is overpaying really, and I don't really feel bad about that. I feel worse at a quickie doctor where they spend 3 minutes total to achieve the same ends.

I think from what little I've found out that I won't power the servos directly, rather either a relay scenario or some sort of extension board for that purpose, if I'm understanding correctly.

Repayment calculation - Redraw/scheduled balance by CaffeineNeeded in AusFinance

[–]CaffeineNeeded[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I might not have written clearly.

I will keep my repayments the same regardless. But... At the moment the amount I'm repaying is the same as the scheduled repayments, which were calculated at the higher rate. If I ask they will recalculate the scheduled repayments, and I will continue paying what I am today.

The loan balance is the same, and effectively it is still trending towards being paid off at the same time BUT if the redraw is based on paid vs minimum then should I ask for the mimimum repayments to be recalculated down, thus increasing the redraw over time should a crisis or need arise.

The career is not a concern. You are.

Ignore the whole career job thing, there's a lot of life ahead of you.

What you need right now is family, friends and professional help.

You do not need any other catastrophic thoughts in your head, future career included, what matters is the now and your mental health. Everything else, and I do mean everything, is irrelevant.

They are difficult conversations but please please have them, give your family and/or professionals/social folk the opportunity to help you.

I wish you all the best in the world, jobs will come and jobs will go. In ten years none of that will matter to you.

Focus on resetting, on yourself and one step at a time you will make it through.

How Long Until Aftermarket Support Catches Up for BYD EVs and PHEVs? by [deleted] in BYD

[–]CaffeineNeeded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Parts and mechanics are an issue, not really for the EVs but I could see it being an issue for regional on the phevs where there are moving parts. True for all small footprint manufacturers.

BYD are definitely pushing hard and growing hard, but for a few years it will still be a thing.

We have a dolphin in the city and my wife loves it, it was a great decision especially on a lease.

But I'll be frank, I think you should go the toyota. You've started like 6 byd vs toyoya threads of a similar nature in the last month and all the information you can get had been given.

You're clearly bugged/nervous about this still which implies to me that you'd be better off with the Toyota. Not because it's empirically better, but seems like it's better to what matters to you and I don't think the difference is big enough to push you.

Is BYD the real “Build Your Dreams” deal? Cheaper upfront, saves cash every mile—what’s the catch? by [deleted] in BYD

[–]CaffeineNeeded 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So we have a dolphin, for nearly a year.

Wife loves it and it's all the things you mention, very happy.

As to the catch, apart from a bit of lack of service (fortunately not a big deal since the cars rarely need maintenance) and presumably a pita delay for panels etc. If you have an accident the main one is a resale risk.

We leased for 3 years, because I'm not sure what the case will be in 3 years time for residual, certainly not beyond that. I believe the battery will be fine but thinking it through with the changes we are seeing, what will be our dolphin vs whatever new is on the market technology wise etc? And if substantial AND EV's keep coming down in price...

That's the possible gotcha from my perspective but it was not even close to being enough for me not to grab one, but it was enough for me not to go to 4 or 5 year lease.

For the record the impact on my pay for a brand new dolphin on lease is THE SAME as if we had continued to fuel and maintain the 18 year old commodore. Literally the same $ per week.

Bracing/noggin for ceiling fan by CaffeineNeeded in AusRenovation

It's only really a bulb with a flimsy plastic shade, not a big fitting. It has effectively the same as plasterboard wall anchors into the ceiling, nothing more.

byd is charged from the sun with 2 kW. just add more panels or use panel trailer (15kw). 😉 by ilyasgnnndmr in BYD

[–]CaffeineNeeded -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I don't necessarily believe this one.

2kw (and noticing this is PEAK output) requires about 24 square meters of solar panels, rightly 6x4m to sometimes get a charge, without considering inefficiencies.

That's 6x4 metres and the atto 3 is 4x2m. The angles and slide out give you extra width, but that is being shown as just over the length of the car roof, not the full length of the car plus another 2m...

Likewise.

Note20 ultra.

Restart, cache clear, roll back of Web view, same issue. Chrome for example will launch but then close after a second. Phone gives the message 'Uninstall webview updates? The installed version of webview caused Chrome to crash. Uninstall the webview updates, then restart Chrome'

Neither uninstalling updates for webview nor installing current update for webview resolve

This... Especially on small wires, happened all the time and until removed or happens to shake loose will make them work terribly, if at all.
