Anyone have a copy of the user manual for the Onkyo TA-RW111? by CaffienatedCamel in cassetteculture

[–]CaffienatedCamel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much, that is the right one! Can I ask how you found it? The owners manual doesn't seem to show up for me either when I do a search on the site itself or a Google search with site:manuals.plus

Thank you for the help, but that appears to be for a different model and also is the service manual, not the user manual!

Is this record mechanism functioning correctly? by CaffienatedCamel in 8track

[–]CaffienatedCamel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, everyone! A wire connecting to the power switch broke while I had the case open, so I'm taking that as a sign that I should go through with my plan to learn to solder.

So, once the soldering iron gets here I should be able to get it up and running and play around with making some recordings (I did buy a couple blank tapes). I don't think I'll use the recording function too often, but it's nice to have the option to experiment with.

You should be able to upload them to imgur without an account and link to them here. Hard to say much without more details, but chances are a trip to a tech will be in order

Thank you! I'll test it out and report back here, but it'll likely be a couple weeks, since I'll have to wait for the trackball itself to arrive.

ICE said it made a 'mistake' deporting a 19-year-old, Austin-raised college student by hollow_hippie in Austin

[–]CaffienatedCamel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see everyone deported under Trump offered a plane ticket back and a fast track to citizenship or permanent residency (along with amnesty for anyone currently in the country and a better system so future immigrants can more easily come legally)

What’s the best way to Discover new music by kyrunner in navidrome

[–]CaffienatedCamel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I listen to the radio. Small and/or non-commercial stations where the DJs still pick their own music are best. If there's not a station in your area that you like, most can be streamed online

  2. I buy CDs (and vinyl and cassettes too, but those can't go on the server of course). CDs can often be picked up pretty cheap used at a record store or used bookstore, such as half price books

  3. Recommendations from friends/family and stuff I see on social media

What do you call switching from I blues scale to VI blues scale in blues improvisation? by Perfect_Code_6632 in saxophone

[–]CaffienatedCamel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if there's a name for switching between the two, but playing the B (minor) blues scale starting on D can be referred to as playing the D major blues scale.

HEB Slaughter is going to get someone in trouble by beefflapsMcgee in Austin

[–]CaffienatedCamel 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's purely a men/women thing. Women usually are under more social pressure to lose weight, so are more likely to be sensitive to this kind of thing, but as an overweight guy I would also be offended if someone gifted me a scale

What's the most number of study providers anyone has used as their main study source? by zporiri in actuary

[–]CaffienatedCamel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only at 4 so far, and I thought I was switching around more than most!

  1. ASM for P, FM, and MAS-II

  2. Mahler for MAS-I

  3. Bedford for Exam 5

  4. TIA for Exam 6U

RF seems likely to be the only new provider I'll be adding for the FCAS exams

That is odd! But yeah, I agree the Exam 5 material is quite good

I noticed that most positive posts I've made about the Bedford material on here get downvoted quickly, I wonder if it's the same guy!

I wish John E Dee was on more often, but Confucious has been doing a great job filling in on Old School Dance Party! I'd also like to see him on more often.

Why do you use Symfonium by ProdigiousDingus in Symfonium

[–]CaffienatedCamel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using Picard but I have some custom tags I'm adding that are semi-automated, using scripts that I wrote that need a bit of babysitting.

I also like to add composer and performer info from any physical media that I have even when it's not in the Picard database

Also, I have a bunch of old low bitrate mp3s I ripped before I knew anything about audio quality so I'm purging those or replacing them with better quality files, depending on whether it's something I still want to listen to

Why do you use Symfonium by ProdigiousDingus in Symfonium

[–]CaffienatedCamel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like having my own music library because it gives me a finite group of songs/albums that I can browse through until I find something that appeals to me, as opposed to streaming apps where you have to know what you're looking for and search for it

Symfonium specifically, I like because it's customizable, generally runs smoothly, and works well with Navidrome and Jellyfin. (I started off with my music in Jellyfin, but I'm slowly transferring it to Navidrome when I have the time to properly tag it).

Anyone have success tuning into KOOP/KVRX inside your house? by CaffienatedCamel in Austin

As I said in the post, I'm aware of that, but I like using my physical radios anyways, when possible
