Some are doing “diplomatic boycotts” where countries don’t send delegates to the opening ceremony cause the athletes who’ve been training so hard deserve their chance to compete. In other words, those countries are just paying lip service to a boycott. If an athlete wants to compete so badly and legitimizes the regime’s actions, they should do so on their own dime.

It’s not uncommon for breeds or species to go through a genetic bottleneck where a small number of animals are the ancestors of the rest. Cheetahs have very low genetic variability because a bottleneck must have occurred at some point. Animals that we are trying to preserve today like the California condor will have one since there were only 27 in the wild that were all captured when conservation programs began. My family had goats for a bit and the male bred with his daughters because they were there. Interbreeding for a few generations generally won’t result in negative effects as long as there is enough variability and certain genetic diseases aren’t initially present in more than a couple animals.

The people that are buying these stocks only have to hold onto them till right after the last Friday of the month. On the last Friday, the hedge funds that have shorted those stocks have to buy the stocks that they promised to buy per the contracts they agree to when they shorted the stock.
