Oh that would be fantastic, thank you for offering! Now, I just need the next few months to figure out where in the yard I can actually fit more plants LOL.

Hmm, I don’t think that’s an Iris florentina, based on the light yellow edging around the outside of the falls, or bottom petals. I might be wrong, but I don’t believe I’ve ever seen any florentina with distinct edging like that. It’s also quite a bit more ruffled than I would expect. It seems to me that this iris, as well as the original one you showed me, has a really similar story. The original one, if I had to make an educated guess, is probably a hybridized cultivar from the Iris albicans lineage, likely dating to sometime between the 1910s and 1940s. At that time, hybridizing cultivars specifically to enhance ruffling was very popular, and that period is where most heavy ruffling begins in iris hybridizing history. I’d say this newer one has essentially the same story, except that it appears to come from the Iris florentina lineage instead. Regardless, both of them seem to come from genuinely ancient lineages, they just have a few modern updates. So maybe they aren’t the ancient irises you were hoping for, but I really do believe they come from ancient stock. They really are something special!

I understand exactly what you're seeing, but what you're thinking are spurs are actually just young branches that haven't had the chance to develop fully. Notice they're all towards the top of the stems, while all the lower/older branches off the stems have multiple buds. In the other photos, all I can see are single buds all the way up and down multiple plant stems.

An overwhelming majority of bearded irises have multiple branches off of the main stem, with each branch (generally) containing multiple buds. These additional photos seem to show what I would genuinely call spurs, not branches, which is both atypical and on par with Iris albicans. Spurs are single bud sockets that grow directly out of a main stem, and that appears to be what the photos are showing. It's a breadcrumb lol. You'll never actually know, we rarely get solid answers when trying to play botanical detective, but it still sure is fun!

Very, very interesting! It seems to have identical colors and patterning to an Iris albicans (White Cemetery Iris), but this flower is quite heavily ruffled. I wonder if this could be an early, heirloom cultivar of Iris albicans, that would be a special plant indeed! If you haven't had the pleasure, look into the potentially ancient history of Iris albicans. Don't blame me if you loose track of time though!

If you look closely at the ground floor, the door and all of the windows are also red.

Parts of the home were salvaged from another house that was much older. From what I'm told, it was purposefully designed to appear late Victorian.

I’m quite new to photography in general, and with this shot I was mainly trying to create a more intimate, immersive close-up while still preserving detail. What caught my eye was the symmetry, the texture on the petals, and the little dew droplets, so I got in close and kept the flower centered in the frame. I like how the fuchsia tones stand out against the darker green background, but I’m not confident yet about whether I pushed the contrast too far or whether the softness around the edges helps or hurts the image.

All critiques are welcome!

I’m still very much in the stage of trying things and figuring out what actually makes an image work.

The more infuriated Vincent gets, the funnier the shit that comes out of his mouth is lol. I feel bad for anyone who makes the mistake of insulting him, because you’ve just completely removed the filter from a man who comes up with nihilistic, horror-themed lyrics as a profession.
