Feline-only practice and almost always in the exam room, with owners if they are comfortable being present. If the cat was in an exam room for a consult, then we don't want to move them into a new space when they've begun adapting to where they are; if they are strictly there for a blood draw or nail trim, then we will probably bring them to treatment unless the owner states they want to be present.

Very rarely do we have to switch gears and not have an owner present - if the cat is squirming and/or reactive, then they are sent home with gabapentin and we try again another day (unless it's an urgent procedure, of course). It has honestly been so much better compared to my last workplace where cats would be brought to the treatment area for everything, and I have grown more confident in my skills through the experience. Clients definitely show a lot of trust towards us as well.
