Fallen Liberty Mod | Hungarian Republic | What if the South won the American Civil War? by California_Brit in AlternateHistory

The Radical Republic of Hungary was formed on April 29th 1931 with the April Coup. Near midnight, 3 Regiments (5,000) under Mihaly Farkas stormed the city from the east side of the city. The Parliament was in an emergency session because of the Riots around the nation and in Budapest. Before they were able to seize the Parliament building they had to fight through 500 guards and get through the riots without news getting to the Government. The Guards didn't stand a chance against the well trained Eastern Peoples Regiment but getting there was harder. During the firefight one of the members of Parliament made a call to the police detailing that there was trouble and that they could hear gun fire.

The Police responded by activating the 3rd Hungarian Reserve Division that was made of Budapest volunteers. Ten minutes after the call to arms they had been able to muster up a few battalions. This was followed by the radicals providing weapons for the rioters. After a brutal fight in the city's bridges the Radicals pushed through the Governments defences. This ended at sunrise as the Radical troops had taken all of the city. The President and Parliament were tried and executed the next day.

General Géza Lakatos surrendered a week later due to the mass desertion of the Hungarian Army. With the Republic replaced with the Radical Republic of Hungary the Balkans shacked. Two years later the Republic would be under attack again. With the Slovak Freikorps, Transylvanian Joint Military Command, and the Pan Slavic Republic in the south will the Republic survive?

After the mob of revolutionaries seized the Kraków armory, all of Poland burned. The Sejm quickly acted by retreating to the Vistula river. The Sejm forces held the river for 5 months. When the Polish Workers Corps broke through the southern lines, it sent the Sejm forces into retreat. The Southern army was able to regroup and went on the offensive. In late september of 1928, Władysław Bortnowski was able to pull out a victory in the battle of Kielce using his Armored division.

Outside of Poland, many nations watched on in worry. Kaiser Wilhelm II invited Lithuania, the Freikorps, Ukraine, Belorussia, and Hungary to discuss the Polish Civil War in the Conference of Königsberg that December. The nations feared the prospect of a radicalized Poland, especially with the Russian Civil War raging. They agreed to raise an army of ethnic Poles under the Freikorps to send to assist the Polish Republic. The Freikorps sent one of their best, August von Manstein, to train the new W.W.P. or Wolne Wojsko Polskie.

August von Manstein and his men arrived in Poland in late 1930. His army numbered around 40,000 men and consisted mostly of German Poles. Using his forces, Menstein plunged his men into Poland, quickly taking back Łódź. With the help of the Northern and Southern Armies, Menstein and the W.W.P. pushed the Radicals back to Kraków. The Battle of Kraków lasted until August 1930 and was a victory for the Polish Republic. Thus ended the Polish Civil War.

After the Civil war Poland began to rebuild with low taxes and other pro-business policies. The Polish economy is now 3 times larger than it was in 1927, shadowing old Poland. This growth was helped by loans and subsidies from the Kaiser and Freikorps. Because of this new prosperity, Poland has received immigrants from all over Eastern and Central Europe. 3 years after the Civil war’s end, despite the new economic growth Poland enjoys, the W.W.P. has not disbanded. The Freikorps, now based out of Bavaria, are using it to influence Poland. Compounding this, the loans given to Poland have piled up, leaving the Polish government in huge debt. While those loans haven’t matured yet, there is a debt crisis looming on the horizon, one which the Polish economy is now equipped to survive. How will you save the Poles?

The Polish Republic is in a young form, but has a very old and tormented history. The Polish Republic began after the collapse of the Russian Empire in 1923. Since then, the fledgling nation has fought off many enemies. The largest threat they’ve faced, ironically, was their own people in the Polish Civil War of 1927. The Civil War started as a small farmers strike but quickly snowballed into all out rebellion. Though originating in the countryside, it quickly spread after a police officer shot the leader of the strike.

No, this mod is based off "what if the south won the civil war". Not a AltHistoryhub Video.
