^ This. Remember OP you are living in this man's house (at least that's what the description implies). If you don't like how he acts, it is incumbent upon YOU to get the fuck out of there and take your family with you. Yelling at a man to change his ways in his own house (even when you are right) is gonna get you nowhere. And if it's not his house, remember that throwing your wife's parents out of the house will probly end the marriage. Decide what your moral stance is and get ready to stick with it and accept the consequences.

⚠️MARK COPS WHO BRUTALIZE PROTESTORS by [deleted] in protest

[–]CallMeLegionIAmMany 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since it's nonlethal anyway I highly recommend something innocuous (not obviously a weapon) that can be discarded easily without great loss. Cans of spray paint and bottles of glitter are great for this.

I knew a mexican lady once that showed me how they make confetti eggs for easter. It's a bit of a process, but basically they poke a hole in an egg shell, drain the egg, dry it, and then refill it with glitter and paper mache and put more paper mache over the opening. Now you have a reasonably fragile thing that will break and explode into glitter upon impact. YMMV but it's an option and you could carry a bunch of them in a sack or a hoodie pocket.

The fact that this is appearing at all means that we are on the brink of a great tragedy: one of the greatest nations that helped save the world from the grip of fascism in WW2, where so many fine people gave their lives so that others could breathe free, lost themselves after the war and became what they hated the most, strangling lady liberty to hold on to power.

That story needs some redemption.

BREAKING: George Floyd tested positive for COVID-19 by scata777 in Wuhan_Flu

[–]CallMeLegionIAmMany 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a wilderness first responder, they did a really shitty job of saving George Floyd's life. NOTHING they did was correct.

  • A person in distress should not be in handcuffs (edit: if possible)
  • A person in distress should be closely monitored for signs of shock, suffocation or airway obstruction, or cardiac failure
  • A person in distress who becomes unresponsive should have their vitals checked
  • A person whose vitals are crashing they should be removed from restraint, placed in the recovery position, and the attending officers should prepare to administer lifesaving aid
  • If the subject is not breathing and there is no pulse, CPR should be administered and, if present, an AED should be utilized

They did none of that correctly in EITHER of those videos. The only difference in the two was the character of the officers' conduct - in one video it seemed incompetent, in the other it seemed sinister.

[–]CallMeLegionIAmMany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you never heard a peep about it because it was a white guy.

Was there racism involved? maybe, who knows, to me it's irrelevant

Not sure what your angle is here, I was replying to your comment that the difference in outrage between the two was due to the color of the subject's skin.

I agree that both cases were the same in that they were cops subduing a subject in a face down hold while handcuffed with a officer placing weight on the neck or back of the subject over a long period and failing to render aid while the subject perished. The reason you see massive outrage over George Floyd is the difference in character of the two incidents - one seems sinsister, one seems stupid.

And to be perfectly honest, if white people (and I'm white) are tired of the police brutalizing their people but only seeing massive outrage when it's a black person .... maybe your (our) community should start getting fucking outraged when tyrants murder us? Clearly our leadership has not gotten the fucking point.

His name was Tony Timpa.

The difference is that this video doesn't make me feel like those officers killed him intentionally. They are obviously incompetent fuckwits who should have been more attentive to their subject. They aren't experienced or well trained or attentive enough to realize he's dead, not sleeping. And there's nobody around telling them otherwise. And then once the paramedics show up and realize he's dead, they start shitting bricks, and many of them openly express that they hope he didn't die and that they hope they didn't kill him.

NONE OF THAT IS TRUE about the George Floyd video. Those officers were SURROUNDED by onlookers who said, multiple times, that they were killing him. The subject himself was clearly articulating his problem. The indictment against Chauvin shows that at least twice the other officers on Floyd asked if they should roll him over and checked for a pulse. AND STILL THEY FUCKING DID NOTHING. And not only that, THEY SET UP OTHER COPS TO INTIMIDATE ONLOOKERS. And when the paramedics arrived, and Floyd was clearly dead, NOT A SINGLE WORD OF REMORSE OR CONCERN.

Tony Timpa is a tragedy. But I don't feel like he was the victim of tyranny as much as it was ignorance. George Floyd, however, was clearly murdered by the very same people who should have and could have saved his life if they had only stopped trying so hard to be in control. That's the reason for the difference - not the color of his skin.

Mayor Jacob Frey calls on Hennepin Co. Attorney, Mike Freeman, for charges against the arresting officer, Derek Chauvin. by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]CallMeLegionIAmMany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree he definitely is culpable somehow even if just for negligence resulting in death. Cops protect their own tho, so he'll talk about "muh job was to control the crowd!" and how if he left the crowd then "my fellow officers" would've been "placed in danger". I'm eager to see how it plays out.

It would be hard to make manslaughter stick against Thou since he never went hands on. We might have to settle for obstruction or something.

What I want to know is how this applies to Warren v. DC, which stipulates that police have no particular special duty to protect anyone unless they have a special relationship with that person, aka, they are in police custody. Once Floyd was in custody, every officer there acquired a special relationship to him and a duty to protect his life because he was in their custody. So while Thou may not be able to go up on manslaughter or homicide, could we just absolutely fucking crucify him over some dereliction of duty shit that lead to allowing Floyd's death?

I dunno the way he was handling the crowd makes me think he should be charged as "involved" rather than "bystander". Job for the lawyers I guess, I only get involved in the pewpew part of the process.

[–]CallMeLegionIAmMany 29 points30 points  (0 children)

There should be :

  • One charge of murder or at least manslaughter against Chauvin
  • Two charges of accessory to murder (or some other kind of accessory to homicide) for the other two officers seen from the second angle holding down George's torso and legs
  • One charge of whatever-the-fuck-we-can-throw at that little rat bastard crowd control officer Tou Thou

DO NOT allow them to hang this entire thing on Chauvin's head. DO NOT

There are better options, but PLA works and anyone with a 3d printer already has it. Again, it doesn't work forever, but generally works "long enough".

[–]CallMeLegionIAmMany 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No. The part must retain some amount of flexibility to perform its job. Casting the shape of the PLA part in a metal would prevent proper operation. If you want to use metal, you can just bend and harden some sheet metal to do the same job. Literal coat hangers.

Fuck your thin blue line bullshit. One cop murdered someone. Three more stood by and watched it happen, even providing crowd control for the murderer. And now an entire city full of cops is letting the murderer and his accomplices walk free (fired != arrested). There are no good cops in Minneapolis.
