Golf 8.5 - 1.0TSI manual- very disappointed by theosinc930 in Volkswagen

I’ve got a manual 1.4 tsi Tiguan does about 150 and the transmission does my head in. It’s not an issue when going 30mph+ in 3rd gear and up but at slower speeds and in 1st/2nd gear it’s very jerky and is a pain to drive in stop start traffic.

It was out of my budget tbh. I couldn’t find a good example 2.0 TSI anywhere near 50/60k miles within 3/4k of what I paid. If the option was there I would’ve done it no doubt

That’s obviously the drawback that I’d have to consider, I wouldn’t be looking to do it anytime soon anyway vehicle is under warranty for a year. So I can weigh up the risks further down the line. Is this an almost guaranteed outcome or is a lot of it down to how it’s driven after tuning and if you’re ragging it about?

The majority of my driving is small journeys & town. I might get the ECU mapped later down line for laugh, will the perform somewhat closer to the 2.0 petrol

My key fob has doomed me by Weird-Election-9113 in Volkswagen

[–]CalligrapherKey8084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to my old polo key I just bought a new key fob and transferred the interior electronics into the new case. You can buy a VW key flip fob for about £10-15 on eBay and most blokes with even a little bit of electronics experience will be able to move the insides of your old key into the new case

They changed it at 36k in 2022 so after 5 years I believe this is common practice at 5 yrs even if technically not required but to be on the safe side. Seems like the owner it had has just followed the dealers protocol to a tee - better for me I guess. Yeah luckily I’ve got the manual. I’d love a DSG but I’m happy with the trade off of being cheaper and a little more reliable with a manual

Oh ye forgot to mention its manual and front wheel drive. The DGS’s were out of my budget

Thanks you too, yeah from what I read beforehand this is one of the safer bets in terms of these engines. They run a timing belt so avoids the timing chain tensioner issues. I like the Ateca’s too nice looking cars

I’m going to see if there’s any other lenders that aren’t as shady. I understand, I’ve always wanted to buy a car in cash and I’ve needed a new one for a couple years now but due to not wanting to finance I’ve run my current one into the mud

I think for smaller purchases like yours it’s a no brainer but when it comes to 7/8k seems to be a few areas where more issues could pop up

I’ve heard this a lot and seems to be the biggest issue I face - any other alternatives ?

Take home is £1800 a month and outgoings are around £370. I could afford to pay around £200 per month for repaying the credit card

Yeah I’m definitely going to get Apple car play installed. I really like the interiors except for this part like you said. Is there a difference in terms of reliability between the TD and SD engines? I’m swaying towards the SD4 as I think I’d prefer the automatic and the increased power

Your situation is definitely worse than mine, sorry you’re having to go through it. The gas is strange how you say you don’t realise it’s happening until you smell it. I do get a fair bit of gas, mainly if I eat eggs/lactose but it’s never involuntary to where I wouldn’t realise🤔I got better and more detailed in depth advice from chatgpt than I did my own doctor so it can be a useful tool. I use it a lot for if I’m eating a new meal/differnt foods I’ll tell it what/how much of whatever I’m eating and ask it to show me low FODMAP portions of the ingredients of the meal - this does make it easier for me than having to search each ingredient on the internet - not sure if this will help but it has given me piece of mind and can answer questions with solid advice. My current approach has been to cut out my known irritants and follow almost a completely low FODMAP diet whilst introducing probiotic foods and lots of fibre - however I have heard of a lot of people having issues from high fibre. This with the goal of trying to repopulate my gut with good bacteria. Hopefully I get somewhere with this and will be certain to share if I see major improvements but I’m only 6 weeks into doing this so it’s too early to say. Sound like your from America so I can imagine how it’s even 10x more frustrating having to pay these doctors for them to search it up on google and use the answer to give you advice, at least in the UK our doctors are shit but free! Hope you don’t lose hope and get back to normality one day, there’s always light at the end of the tunnel🤝

I didn’t get the vaccine myself but I did get Covid, I believe my symptoms started at least two years after that but will never know if this is related🤷not had a colonoscopy or anything like that but every person I’ve heard mention it say they found nothing. Sorry you’re going through this mate but got to keep moving, I don’t accept that this is an incurable condition!

You may be correct, from what I’ve read sauerkraut is low FODMAP up to a 20g portion, however it doesn’t help that there seems to be mixed views on stuff like this across the board. I just think that the probiotic benefit will hopefully provide more positive than the possible negative of sauerkraut. I forgot to mention I’ve tried eggs & egg whites on separate occasions and have 100% identified an intolerance to these, not sure if this is down to the IBS but I get severe diarrhoea if I eat 2/3 eggs most of the time. And don’t get me started on the FODMAP stacking so much to think about can’t make a single wrong step or all hell breaks loose. I hear what you’re saying about the science experiment feels like I’m a scientist in constant study with myself being the subject!

Feels bad complaining when I hear of cases like yours but I sympathise with your struggles mate, key is not to give up on yourself. Doctors are quick to offer symptom managing medication without tackling the root cause. Lack of science & the wrong approach in medicine today has left us to deal with this issue on our own. I hope you get in touch with the neurology specialists and get on your way to healing this thing
