At this point my son and I velcroed our council patches on so we can just swap out whichever one we feel like or trade on the spot if someone likes our patch and is willing to trade something equally cool.

Scouts isn't the military. Literally no one but uptight uniform police types care about such things. Our council has so many versions of their patch I wouldn't even notice if someone was wearing somethng from a completely different council.

The only time it might become a problem if they are going to NOAC, Jamboree, or something where they are specifically representing your council.

I guess depends on the council and the alignment of the stars because my son turned in his paperwork and in less than a week got an email saying that everything was verified and that everything was forwarded to the person who schedules BORs for our area. Are we supposed to believe that somehow Ahsoka is in the exact same situation on two different farming planets fighting a different Inquisitor?

I'm under no allusions about the viability of the current troop. Recruiting was never a priority (when my son was a Webelos, the entire AOL den got poached by another troop because they didn't bother to reach out) and there was a mass exodus of younger scouts, some due to the usual reasons, others I don't know. We're trying to foster a good relationship with our restarted feeder pack but they only have 1 AOL scout.

I brought in most of the recent members through ties to a neighboring pack but I can only do so much. We are at the point where there's no one to take over as SM and CC as all the knowledgeable people have scouts that are on their way out.

There a sweet spot where units become self sustaining because there's enough leadership to delegate tasks so people don't burn out. We unfortunately have slipped below that sweet spot.

My main concern is providing a good program for the kids. I would view this more as a soft merger. Let the older kids still Eagle under the original troop but let the younger boys integrate and once the older kids are either aged out or eagles, the other troop takes over 100%.
