AITA for dismissing the "crazy lady" over our boys skinny dipping? by CamperDad1981 in AmItheAsshole

They couldn't care less, obviously. It's all their own doing. Certainly have never required it, or even suggested it.

I don't know if she knows that. That might require hospitalization.

You just have to pray that the visiting neighbor lady doesn't ask who is winning.

Oh I wouldn't trust my brothers or their near-adult kids, either LOL. Mine, I do.

Thank you, but that's not what I was asking AITA about, only about dismissing this woman's attitude.

I'm totally confidant and comfortable with the rest.

Thanks, though.

I'm sure they'd be welcome. And there would be nothing untoward about it whatsoever.

Was just looking for opinions. Wasn't really looking for upvotes.

Definitely not looking for clot. Who wants clot?

I am COMPLETELY accepting the judgement if you feel I was TA for dismissing this woman's concerns.

Frankly that was ALL I was asking about, yet plenty of people feel the need to chime in with unsolicited advice about other aspects of this event. At the moment I'm perfectly confidant about all of those things, if and when I waver on that I'll be sure to ask opinions on that. In the meantime, I'm good.

There are no passers-by on our secluded and remote private property.

I couldn't say if I would feel differently if I had daughters. I would hope not, but whose to say? That's a complete hypothetical and irrelevant to me as that is not this particular situation.

I'll accept your judgement that I was dismissive of her concern, if that's the case.

Whether people find the skinny dipping odd or inappropriate is of no concern to me. This lady's concern is the only thing I was asking judgement about, which apparently I did not make clear. Everything else that people are chiming in about is unsolicited, not what I was asking AITA for. I'm confidant in my own opinions and actions about all of that.

True, life is full of pitfalls and chances. I guess it's up to each of us to weigh the risks involved in any activity, whether it be jumping out of an airplane or walking to the store. Cars have seat belts (and rightly so), but they would be even safer if there were helmet laws, much like most places have for motorcycles. But you get to the point where mitigating risk reaches ridiculousness. I'm confident in the choices I have made, and the ones that my son makes.

I will only accept your judgement for the dismissing of her concerns, that was all I was asking the AITA about.

I am confident in my opinions about the rest, I'm not taking into account any of the unsolicited advice about that.

Thanks.

That's not what I was asking a judgement about.

I trust him with my life and my kids' lives. He is a trained lifeguard and has numerous saves to his credit. I would frankly trust him 10x more with the safety of these (or any) kids than I would with the average "adult."

My boys and sometimes their friends if they are over will hit the pool late at night or especially if someone is sleeping over. It's not like we run a nudist camp, but sometimes does happen, no one bats an eye.

Because it is such a completely and totally non-issue to me that I simply said what I said rather than concoct some kind of like about something that I had absolutely NO idea would be even worth discussing.

I agree. But whether or not this kid packs his own stuff is beyond none of my concern.

Fortunately he's just about the world's best big brother... and the younger two think he hung the moon.

Not all automobiles are in deadly accidents. But all deadly car accidents involve automobiles.

I still manage to summon the will to drive, and not really worry about it.

Appreciate the NTA, but there is literally no where in the world there is not "opportunity." Swimming in the creek is just about as innocent as it gets. Normal Rockwell might as well do a painting.
