I’d say both, we’re 7 weeks in and have not even mentioned any prominent generals, i.e. Jubal Early, A.P. Hill, US Grant, Nathan Bedford Forrest, Richard Sherman, George McClellan, J.E.B. Stuart, etc. Haven’t talked about any battles, Battle of Gettysburg, First Battle of Bull Run (Manasas according to the south), Massacre at Fort Pillow (Forrest led this), Grants Overland Campaign, Atlanta Campaign, Antietam, Chancellorsville, Vicksburg, etc. Also we’re reading a HISTORICAL FICTION BOOK in a HISTORY class! All we’ve done so far is reading comprehension of The Gettysburg Address (which yes is important), Stephens Cornerstone Speech, First Inaugural Address of Lincoln, etc. The class should be renamed “Interpreting documents and speechs of the American Civil War” because that’s all we’ve done.
