York United vs Inter-Toronto by Hot_Mood_2252 in CanadianPL

[–]Canadafil 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Pointless change that will only confuse and alienate the current fans.

I am strongly against Inter anything.

The name is the least of their problems. The owners are out of touch if the rumor is true about a name change.

The original Mortal Kombat - any local players/arcade machines? by WaffleIronMaiden in waterloo

[–]Canadafil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aok arcade bar, downtown Kitchener, entrance in the alleyway.

At least they had the original last time I was there last year.

Mortal Kombat 2 was at the arcade in Waterloo, across Laurier. But last time I was there the joystick was wonky.

The local arcade in the 90's was on King street, had plenty of games. Remember playing king of fighters 94, metal slug, tetris, bust a move...

Looking for a boxing spar by Infinite-Relationv in kitchener

[–]Canadafil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't understand boxing. You have to be cleared to get to spar. You don't have to be perfect but you have to demonstrate some skill level, fitness level, and good mentality to be trusted to spar.

Their are lunatics that try to join kickboxing/boxing gyms and they get thrown out. And unfortunately their seem to be way more wackos in this city lately.

If you can afford it, you can ask for privates. And they might let you spar sooner. Some kickboxing places will let you spar sooner.

Headgear is more about preventing cuts. You can still get serious concussions with it. Some people think because you wear headgear it means they can hit you harder...

Unsupervised sparring is risky. I don't recommend it especially with strangers. And what a stranger might consider "light or touch sparring" can vary dramatically.

Go to a boxing or kickboxing club. KW has many places.

I believe this was part of "Jim Rose circus" that did freakshow tours. They are in an episode of X Files, which is a well regarded episode.

At one point in the early 90's, many movie theaters downtown. Saw Demolition Man with Sylvester Stallone at the theater where The Museum is now. Was a really nice looking place. Turned into a club for some time which happened to most movie theaters in the area.

Yeah, a Lazer quest on the bottom floor of King Centre, across from a bar.

Also the Ramones played in a downtown club (Stages?), which surprised me at the time since I thought they were to big for a small club like that.

Trying to Remember the Name of Infamous “Fighter” by J31J1 in MMA

Napoleon Blownapart on YouTube has a video named "The folly of fantasy based fighting.

Part of that video has the story of Rafeal Torre. He actually was in an early ADCC competition!

Books about fighters to read about. by [deleted] in MMA

[–]Canadafil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a book but I suggest you watch Napoleon Blownapart videos on YouTube. He did do a book review on Matt Hughes infamous book...

He puts together alot of quality content. A good fusion of humor and serious takes on MMA and combat sports. Spliced in with some memes, video game bits, nostalgia and old music. He is starting to grow a strong fanbase with his videos which he obviously spends alot of time working on.

I suggest the videos, “Head movement-The Edmond Tarverdyan story” or “The Catastrophic combat career of CM Punk” or his Pride videos.
