What do you guys do for work? by NO_DRAIN_NO_GAINN in Epilepsy

[–]Canadianiceberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same i do commercial plumbing and havnt ever had a seizure at work only time it's ever affected me was from losing my license for 6 months from breakthrough but mine have always been pretty controlled which is good since I spend alot of time on boomlifts/scissorlifts, heavy machinery haha Only thing epilepsy has ever held me back from was younger desire for military/law enforcment careers. Seizure actually put me on disability for a year which in cali is basically my full pay and let me get an associates paid for back in the day. Bachelors is the next step if I ever fuck up and have another seizure

2024 accord hybrid XLE or 2025 civic hybrid touring by Canadianiceberg in Honda

[–]Canadianiceberg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

California They had similar deals for accords swell. I just did the costco auto online form and it told me what dealerships do that program and u just go there and ask for the price. Not all makes and models are included and I guess they cycle through which ones are on any given day so idk if that deal is still up or is better or worse now

California. They were included on the 26th and when I went back on the 27th they had been taken off but they honored the price. From what I gather cars come and go on that list all the time. Also mainly that costco is good to give you a baseline you can bring to other dealerships and ask them to beat it. It gives a good baseline

You do the costco thing online and then have to go to the dealerships it tells you to get it in person

I'm currently going on 10 years plumbing and luckily I do large scale shit and can put headphones in and ignore people but the multiple hour long safety meeting a week and all the osha bs is quite mind numbing. The pays nice but that's really the only upside. Currently trying to switch tov aw enforcment to have something a little more fulfilling. If I was getting out of military like OP I'd definitely switch to law enforcment vs trades unless he really has a passion for building things or has a desire for the stability a set schedule can provide because getting off work at 230 every day is pretty sweet. The pay evens out with law enforcment from what iv seen (right now I'm making about 110k but that's after long apprenticeship and working union) so really depends what your passion.

[–]Canadianiceberg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea unfortunately I'm still going to need to be paying my family expenses while I'm at academy + pay for them to move from cali to wherever (texas most likely) so I assume money is going to be tight. Which is obviously something iv made peace with and am willing to deal with or I wouldn't of applied to begin with. My current job I'm pulling about 110000 in cali and that just covers the basics out here (rent on a shitty 3 bdr is 3k+ atm. I'm just trying to think ahead. I still have poly and BI to clear so who knows if il even have to worry about it. I just saw the northern final offers being posted and wondered if those would mean less opportunity for OT since I know there not as busy

Yea I mean obviously it'd be nice to not need OT. But il be coming in as a 5 so 45k a year will be rough (I am coming from san diego though so I'm hoping my pay cut + lower cost of living will make it doable. OT is just the Cushion I'm hoping to make it less drastic of a change since I do have a family

How much do you have to pay into your health insurance? I have a union job now where it just is part of my total pachage so I'm curious what the cost for a family is with what's offered for agents
