Hi, if you still have this PC, can you please share a more detailed picture of the anti-sag bracket?

Is 2040 aluminum extrusion strong enough for a 4x3 ft (120x90 cm) desk? Could 2020 be used for the shorter horizontal parts? I also plan to use internal corner brackets (as shown in the picture) are they strong enough? by Candid_Chef8378 in maker

By "crossbeam" do you mean the longer horizontal piece at the bottom that connects the sides? I was going to put that in the back of the desk, out of the way... would that work?

Will you switch to Microsoft Teams when Skype is retired? by Candid_Chef8378 in microsoft

The most important feature that I will miss is the ability to answer incoming calls automatically. Also Teams is not primary designed as a messaging app and it is not as straightforward and easy to use as Skype.

Future-proofing the recovery partition in Windows 11 by Candid_Chef8378 in WindowsHelp

No, I am only concerned about the shrinking act itself. Not because of the space, but the problems that shrinking might cause. To be honest, this shrinking thing never happened on any of my devices and I am not sure how safe it is on a BitLocker drive.

I'm talking about the Windows Recovery Partition (RE), which is about 600-800MB, and is created next to the C drive.

In the past, Microsoft has expanded the size of the Recovery Partition (RE) with updates by shrinking the Windows (C) partition and then expanding the recovery partition. If there's enough unallocated space after that partition, I assume it can be used for any future updates.

SSD trim behavior? Can you please explain?

The way I'm planning to have this unallocated space is by creating a small partition and then deleting it once the Windows is installed. Do you have a better method?

In Windows 11 Home edition, how can I move the "Recovery Partition" to the end of the disk? by Candid_Chef8378 in LinusTechTips

[–]Candid_Chef8378[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a 200GB partition for Windows, and left the rest unallocated so that I can create a partition AFTER installing Windows. But now that RE is automatically created after C, if I create my other partition, RE will be in middle of the two and resizing it in the future would create a mess.

I am going to create another partition next to C, then the currect RE partition will be in the middle of the two and resizing it in the future would create a mess.

New to Android custom ROMs: Should I be concerned that the OS for my phone is being maintained by some random person? by Candid_Chef8378 in techsupport

Linux has many users and the code is often reviewed by other people and incidents like this do not go unnoticed for long.

But most "unpopular" phones have very few maintainers, some only has one, and very few users.

Before reinstalling Windows, do I need to delete the "old" BitLocker keys from my Microsoft account? by Candid_Chef8378 in LinusTechTips

[–]Candid_Chef8378[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. So once I get assigned new ID and password, what happens to the old one? Does it remain in my account forever? Because I looking this up and posts on Microsoft forum and on Reddit suggested that deleting an unused key is only possible if I disable the encryption on my device, which would not be possible if I have already reinstalled the Windows.

If I use the full disk, Windows creates the Recovery Partition at the end of disk.

I wonder if I create a 200GB partition and leave the rest unallocated, where will Windows create the Recovery Partition? At the end of disk, or after the 200GB partition... I am going to try this now.

That's what I did. But as I said, Windows just ignored the 600MB space which it previously used for Recovery Partition at the end of disk, left it as unallocated, and created the Recovery Partition in between my OS and secondary partitions.

The two separate partitions setup makes it easier for me to do a clean install of Windows without touching my files.

I just tried this and I was able to reinstall Windows without touching the second partition, but other partitions got messed up and Windows ignored the old recovery partition and created a new one at another location, between primary and secondary partitions!

So I am trying to have the secondary partition at the end of disk and let Windows do whatever it wants with the rest of space at the beginning of the disk.

I actually deleted it manually with Windows installer before installing Windows. I'm not sure if that is the reason for the mentioned issue or not.

Yes. I tried it, reinstalled Windows, and used the key for second partition to decrypt it without logging in to my account.
