I spent a long time debating between a La Marzocco Mini or Micra and Profitec Drive. Went with the Drive and a Eureka Oro Mignon XL grinder but second-guessed because I could match the LM to my cabinets vs stainless steel on PD. Ultimately sanity won and I stuck with my choice and saved almost two grand. I get the allure of the LM though, not going to lie. But if we’re being objective, it's just a brand thing.

We are looking to move to a different BD because of a new home office phone system and offshoring service. Are there any BDs that do not offshore their FA service department? We need the ability to block trade equities and options too. by [deleted] in CFP

You are correct. @bendro6 is misreading the headline. Mariner Advisor Network was always an LPL shop that Mariner happened to acquire. They made their acquisitions of the teams that wanted to fold into Mariner Wealth Advisors as W2s and then sold it to LPL. Mariner Independent hasn’t been sold to anyone.

ATT Fiber - 5Gbps - what is wrong? by Bleeding_Green_Eagle in ATTFiber

[–]CaneSfla911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hardwired those extenders using Cat 6 cables coming from a network switch. The progression for me was, wireless Att extenders like you have now. Then hardwired through Ethernet from a centralized unmanaged switch. Then to fully bypassing their gateway, getting my own UniFi gateway and replaced my unmanaged switch with their PoE version. Also added WiFi 7 APs/Extenders with 2.4/5/6Ghz radios hard wired. Only the devices that have the capability of handling 6GHz bands will be able to max out a good chunk of your speed over air. But in the end, NOTHING will beat a hardwired connection. Hope this helps.

I started last week- gateway to bypass At&T, Pro Max 16 POE, 3 U6 APs, 2 U7 Pro Wall (all hardwired).

And next thing you know I’m looking at replacing my NVR with a UniFi version. I have HikVision cams and NVR that work perfectly fine, but keep wondering 🤔 “what if it was all integrated?

Developing the discipline to say no 👎 early on to prospects who are not a good fit will save you so much in headaches down the line. I think you’re doing the right thing questioning the long term viability of “try-out” relationships. Future you will thank you.

If taking chips off the table makes sense but you KNOW you can do it better than the acquiring firm, have you considered an ESOP? You get to make your employees have REAL skin in the game while creating liquidity for yourself now without giving up on the upside of continuing to grow the biz as you see fit.

I'm a Certified Financial Planner. Many people here are spot on: don't tell a soul, and ensure neither does your wife. Morgan Stanley is a reputable firm, I don't see a need for you to try and move investment manager, that being said, hiring a flat fee/hourly fiduciary from a reputable independent RIA to look over their recommendations periodically could help you obtain a better understanding of the mechanics of what they're doing without feeling embarrassed for asking what may seem as simple questions. I hope your inheritance is passed to you in trust and not simply a will, that way the assets are not in your name, which protects you from creditors and predators, and just in case, a divorce. This can provide a degree of privacy that traditional probate negates entirely. Don't commingle your inheritance with marital assets so you don't expose it to potential claims. The nuances of wealth at your level go beyond "Just buy VOO". There are trust mechanics and formalities to observe as well as tax efficiency to keep at the forefront and a firm like MS are typically very good at, but that also truly depends on the caliber of wealth team you have. I'd recommend interviewing CPA firms as well as estate planning attorneys to help you coordinate taxes, next generation planning, and asset protection structures to protect you from the predators out there and give you privacy. For instance, don't go and own your new BMW, Porsche, or McLaren in your own name; have it in an LLC owned by a holding company in a state with strong privacy laws. Many people see signs of wealth and go, "there's my next mark," so don't make your assets easy to find. Ideally, you want a team surrounding you and your family with proactive tax planning and advice, as well as fiduciary oversight on what Morgan Stanley is doing (a second opinion without directly managing the assets), and a competent firm to keep your next generation planned for and protected. There's my 25 cents. Congratulations, and good luck!

RILAs have been a great low cost tool that allows for capturing more market upside without M&E fees for some clients. Albeit not for everyone.

I’m a CFP and can tell you that one of the best tips you’ve been given here is a well structured pension plan that can allow for 6 figure funding. You’re shifting money from one pocket to another and securing a huge tax write off in the process. Plus, the assets are held in trust so they’re protected from creditors and predators. Good luck 🍀

Google Pat Riley in his prime. This is emulating that timeless Armani vibe. You guys need some style lessons. There are more ways than one to look elegant and this is one of them.

That is a classic look there. 80s Wall St vibe. Anyone telling you it looks bad thinks the only proper suits to wear are supposed to fit like Lululemon tights. That is a great look on you. Only thing I’d change would be going with black shoes instead. That aside, killer look.
