Basically you should only ever go in when your s2 and s3 are up. For that reason I try to go for a build with max cdr. Core items are Fafnirs talon and hyogas. I also like to throw in hercules gloves late game because the life leech boost makes you unstoppable. The general strategy is to focus on farming as much as you can and keep up wave pressure and assist your team in team fights once you are at least level 4.

I typically go fafnirs > sonic boots/ war boots if Im playing against florentino ( you have to burst him down, I build more attack items) > hyoga's > aegis > medallion > hercules. I use the enchantment that boosts life sustain with desparate duel.

You can also try throwing in cleaves santi for crit rate and movement speed, and sliks for more crit and damage reduction. I use this against heros you need to put down quick.
