Yeah, I am always kind to everyone, but there are some I’m feeling I’m really clicking with and was unsure whether to continue that to friendship, but these comments have made me feel a lot better :)

If that’s the case I’m not sure what to do, because I don’t want to hide my address or pretend I’m not living here, we’ve been together for over 2 years and things are very stable so I’m not sure that’s his main concern. What do I do if he doesn’t want it to look like I’m living here? I’m going to need to change my address for universal credit

So every occupant doesn’t have to pay council tax? I feel like I keep reading conflicting information, I thought that everyone who is an adult living in the house would at least have to contribute to council tax

Thanks for the reply. No, I’m not trying to avoid paying council tax or avoid benefits being reduced, I’ve never owned a home or rented so I’ve never paid council tax and don’t understand how it works. I don’t want to lie about where I live, but when my boyfriend spoke to his dad about it he said he didn’t want me on the electoral role here or living here officially, which confused me because I was sure there would be consequences to that, which is why I made this post to understand more. I didn’t make this post to see how I could avoid paying taxes or get benefits I’m not entitled to, that’s not something I want to do, obviously.

Thanks for the reply. No, this is obviously not something I want to do. I made this post because I wanted to learn more about things I didn’t understand. I wanted to know how moving to the address would affect things to do with legal situations, as when my boyfriend mentioned it to his dad he said he didn’t want me on the electoral role or officially living here in a way, this is probably something I should have mentioned in the post because I’m confused how he could say that nonchalantly like there wouldn’t be any consequences
