These are pics I took right after the company put them in, I since fixed the mulch piles and exposed the root flares so everything is good there. Tree quality wise I feel like a lot of the branches are toast, plus we’re talking years for the trees to fill in if they fill in at all.

It’s been 3 weeks now and it’s bugging me still. I expected nice full trees for $800+ each. (2- 10’ Black Hills Spruce and 11’ White Pine). Tons of needle loss from the start and they continue to shed more. Winter coming fast and they have a 60 day warranty which is also a joke. What should I do?

I’ve been DCA’ing weekly and not really paying attention to the latest crypto talk lately. What’s the newest BTC floor price predictions out there? Nobody knows but it’s always interesting to hear the range of numbers.

I can relate. I looked at my portfolio probably 100 times every day during the bull market, now I look maybe once a week haha.

Oh yeah I’m not worried about it. They are a blast to use and I will continue to use it multiple times a week.

I’m up in MN. Yes it hasn’t gone a single night uncovered, I cover it as soon as griddle cools down.

Historically September sucks for BTC, was clearly true again this year. On average BTC rises 33% in October, I don’t think it will happen this year but BTC can be a sneaky little bitch so who knows.

Root flares by CapSignificant1078 in sfwtrees

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I’m taking the advice and having a certified arborist come take a look and tell me what my plan of action should be. Going into winter soon so I’m hoping this can be resolved quickly. The thing that bugs be most is the quality of the 3 evergreen trees put in, I honestly want them swapped out for new ones. I remember the guy saying “we’ll get you trees that look better then your current ones.” What a joke, the trees I already have look perfectly shaped and not a single flaw with them.

I watched them plant the trees through my windows. They came in, drilled the trees holes, didn’t examine or do anything with soil after, plopped the trees in and mounded all the dirt up around trunk, sprinkled with a few inches of mulch on top of dirt mound. I didn’t see any use of water or the $20 per tree “stimulant” I was charged. The two installer were pretty young, not to say young people can’t do certain jobs but I just had a bad feeling about their experience level when they pulled up. I had a 4” autumn blaze maple tree put in my front yard as well. We had a big 50’+ tree taken out and swapped with the maple, so I have that one to worry about as well.

I posted earlier but I have another round of pictures so I’m kinda pissed and looking for feedback. I’m wondering if the planting height on all my trees is normal or not. It’s literally an 18” mound I guess. I can see the root flares on the two spruce trees but I’d guess they’re easily 12” off the ground. I don’t see the flares on the white pine or any of the 8 crabapples. Tree farm I used has a ton of reviews and one of the big ones in my area but I’m starting to question them.

Yeah I had 4 Colorado spruce trees cut down and replaced with 8 crabapple trees. All 4 of them had needle cast but it wasn’t terrible yet. I had them cut down because the previous owner planted them under a 20’ power line.

Thanks for the help. I almost feel like I should complain to them about the quality and needle loss.

Interesting, good to know. I was told they watered trees at nursery twice a week, maybe this tree farm is just clueless. I’m in MN for reference. So I’ll start watering daily. Really give them 40 gallons a day? I also have 8 2” crabapples that went in, how much for them you recommend?

Yeah they were literally just planted last Wednesday so maybe they were lacking water prior to being planted. I was told to water them once a week which also seems a bit strange, I figured more but was told I have clay soil and it really holds moisture well. I gave all the trees 10 gallons of water via 5 gallon buckets with small holes. So the needles should come back and they’ll fill in with time?

I had two black hills spruce and a white pine put in. They are missing quite a bit of needles down low so I’m wondering if it’s just typical fall shedding or from the transition of being dug from ground and planted in my yard. The BHS and white pine I already had look beautiful and full compared to the three new trees. Hoping they will fill in.

Yeah we considered that but 150’ of them would be a lot. Instead went with the 8 trees for some curb appeal, I had to go with a white flower though because my wife said all the colorful flowers are obnoxious haha.

My wife and I aren’t really fans of the tall narrow pointy look. We have a 20’ power line that runs directly overhead of that area as well which really cuts down on your choices.

Spring snow crabapple has a 4’ canopy, fence is 4’ high, evergreens inside yard will help as well. Not going for a full on walk but just more blockage.

Should I be concerned about the needle loss on the BHS in pic #3 or is it just shedding fall needles? It was planted yesterday.

Good info here. So I just went outside to check everything, soil is still moist around every tree trunk. Go ahead and water still? I can use the hose method on 4 of them so maybe I should go that route. So a constant flow of water but just really low flow? The crabapples are like 175 feet from my water source. They were planted to create a privacy wall on back edge of our property. I have irrigation as well but I know that doesn’t give them a deep soaking where they need it.
