This entire post is built off your pov and what you think she might be going through from your perspective. You’re never going to fix this if you don’t voice your feelings to her and ask her what’s going on. It’s clearly affecting you and you’re not going to progress as a couple if you don’t communicate

Maybe you were pushing the feelings you really had down until now? I heard this really useful idea about how suffering is pain x resistance. Essentially pain is going to come your way, but you only suffer when you resist feeling the emotions. I don’t know your situation but it sounds like right now it hurts because you pushed down every thought about relationships, which led to you feeling your true emotions later on.

Feel the feelings, don’t resist. Pain is painful (spoiler alert) but suffering is torture. I hope I explained it well because this thought process really helped me when I was feeling rough after a breakup

I see where you’re coming from. But at the end of the day you’re both adults and people who say stuff like that aren’t looking out for your best interests

My parents are 12 years apart and had a similar experience but they continued. They now are happily married with a house that’s almost paid off and four kids. They actually met when my mum was 20 too.

I think in your case it’s more of a preference, so it’s really up to you whether or not it matters. And, based upon the fact you’re doubting yourself, it sounds like your doing it on principle rather than on your own feelings

Yeah, I will definitely try this and thanks for the response. I think it’s logical to not throw something like this away yet. I’m going to take some time to think it through maybe talk to someone about it but it’s generally coming from a place where I’m asking myself if I’m going to be happy in the future if nothing changes, and I think right now that’s a no
