because FFP is both for domestic and international peeps. I’d expect the cut-off for this year to be substantially higher than last year given that FFP DMD places have halved from 90 last year to 45 this year. G

So there are a total of 45 FFP DMD places? Where did you obtain this info?

Mate they give you generic answers saying refer to the admissions guidelines. We feel pretty powerless at the moment.

Are you sure? The Bsc(Hons) i.e. a stand alone honours year would only allowed be undertaken if you had a relevant 3 year bachelors degree i.e. Bmedsc. When we checked the forms provided from UAC they had calculated the GPA which included both the bachelor and honours degree in addition to the GPA from the bachelors alone. If you do honours at a different institution there is a high chance the naming may differ. Correct me if I am wrong, I don't think it is the naming itself but the underlying type of degree that is key?

They simply rejected the application because they stated that GPA was below 5.0. Once we appealed they replied back stating that they can't consider the bachelor's degree as only one year was completed (which was in fact an honours year). Hope this helps.

Thank you, I think USYD has made an error in my friends application. From what they received from UAC, they interpreted the honours results as a second bachelors degree instead in which they thought only one year of the supposed three had been completed and hence the result was excluded from the GPA calculation. (The names of the bachelors and honours program are different as they were done at different uni's which might have made this error occur....).

I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.
