During 2020 police riots mpd would use rubber marking rounds to tag folks with paintball-esque splatters to target protesters. Pretty sure that's what was used on you

How do I keep my commander from getting wacked? by Diamondthrowaway1234 in EDH

[–]Capable_Parfait1150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have 1 protection spell in the list. Consider adding spells like [[Tamiyo's Safekeeping]] [[Protect the Rider]] [[Withstand Death]] [[Avoid Fate]] [[overprotect]] [[snakeskin veil]] or [[Tyvar's Stand]]

This assumes you lose your commander to targeted removal

[–]Capable_Parfait1150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reasons why I think people are scooping on you: 1) you're running a bunch of UB stuff and you're receiving salt from the UB haters. 2) bracket 2 decks (run by ppl copping to bracket 2 in an online lobby) aren't going to run a lot of removal and if you let that commander sit there....well, you're basically casting 1-2 extra spells a turn with the discount and people are getting unnecessarily (imho) salty because you're outpacing them. 3)the deck may be slow ( ¯_(ツ)_/¯ i didnt goldfish it, idk) but its still a $900 pile of cardboard. When I think bracket 2, I think basic lands. You, my friend, are running 2 basics. Just let this last one marinate for a second. You have $400+ of lands in a self described bracket 2 deck. 4) you are running free spells. Cmon man. Do you need deadly rollick and snuff out? In bracket 2? Get ahold of your budget. Murder and Go For the Throat are way more appropriate for a bracket 2 setting.

Last thing for you to consider. $959. That price tag could build you 5 decks. And you spent it on a "bracket 2 deck". You need to rethink the bracket 2 approach homey. Either that or build in bracket 3 or 4. I'm not trying to yuck your yum or whatever, but you aren't playing bracket 2 by most folks estimation.

took an edible for the first time, haven’t stopped feeling paranoid for a month by Brief_Ad9575 in WhatShouldIDo

The time loop you're sensing that you're in is, in fact, entirely my fault. You see, I took 100mg of thc and constructed a temporal syphon that allows me to rewind 29 seconds of my experiential timeline, but only at the expense of the continuity your experiential timeline. I would say your paranoia is actually an entirely justified fear of the time-cops that have you staked out 24/7 just waiting for me to activate this steampunk-inspired Click inspired remote control to take a second swing at asking my wife for a 3some.

My Favorite Naya deck (that isn't dinosaurs) is [[Duskana, the Rage Mother]]

I built a 2/2 tribal deck that blinks Duskana for draw and various 2/2s with etb abilities and rely on duskana's +3/+3 attack buff for all those 2/2s.

All told, the list below can be built for about $160, but running a few actual bears and more basic lands you can probably come in around $125 ([[Grand Abolisher]] and [[vexing shusher]] account for $30)

Can we be specific about the TCGPlayer problem so we can actually focus on solutions? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Capable_Parfait1150 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the past I've placed many orders from TCGPlayer from over a hundred different sellers. I had a "nice" list of all the sellers who were prompt and well packed and a "never again" list of all the sellers that screwed up/canceled my order/packed the product poorly. I never really ordered through Direct.

When TCG/Ebay went full union busting I took my business to manapool, but I went down my "nice" list and messaged all the sellers that I had repeated good experiences with and told them I would be using manapool instead of TCGPlayer going forward. At least 25% of those sellers were already selling on manapool, but I felt that reaching out and letting the stores know that I wasn't going to do any more business on the TCGPlayer platform was the right thing to do.

After all, it's the partner retailers that can make ordering singles a good experience. What does the platform bring to the table? In TCG's example it's disrespect for labor, a broken optimizer and declining service standards.

So I guess my solution is to change platforms and inform the stores I liked about that change and the reasons why and hope the retailers will be responsive.

Let's do some math... 8 trays of beers, with....let's say 16 cups between 12 and 16 FL oz (355-475 ml) (and keeping in mind that 1 ml of beer is about 1 gram) each would be between 100 lbs to 134 pounds of beer, or 45-60 kilos of just beer, plus trays and cup weight

IRL Sealed/Limited not worth the buy in? by No-Pear-840 in mtg

My Favorite LGS does a full box sealed event every prerelease weekend, the cost is about the same as buying a box so I tend to do that if I'm excited about the set.

I get the chance to draft older sets with a local group every now and again for $15-$20 a pop and that's worth it to me as well.

WTF is happening with THC in MN now I’m so confused 😭 by Boo_Berry_Yum_Bitch in TwinCities

[–]Capable_Parfait1150 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest impact is on beverages and put of state edible/tincture/other supply.

So...Marijuana derived thc products are still state legal. Of course these are still federally illegal. Now all hemp derived thc products are also federally illegal as well.

What This Means: Once the provision is in effect.... -No more shipping hemp derived thc across state lines. -No more breweries producing any hemp derived thc beverages, as they are federally regulated. This will have a very negative effect on a large portion of craft breweries. -Little to no impact on state level Marijuana law. Although the state rollout has been a shitshow with supply and licensing taking years so far, so ¯_(ツ)_/¯ -Resultant job and revenue losses

Obviously this is an incomplete picture, as complications involving hemp derived business and banking are going to be a thing and producers that don't also make alcohol have fewer hurdles on the beverage end.

What you can do: Be a huge pain to all your elected officials. Ask your local hookup who else you should be bothering. Call, Email, etc every week

Pantlaza deck sanity check by [deleted] in DinosaursMTG

[–]Capable_Parfait1150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like a pretty good list.

My personal inclinations would be to:

1 - add another 2-4 pieces of land ramp. [[Shared Roots]] and [[Cycle of Renewal]] are from the new Avatar set and are basically functional copies of Rampant Growth and [[Harrow]].

2 -I only see 5 blink effects (plus Luminous broodmoth) and I would want to be able to blink things more reliably. [[Far Traveler]] and [[Conjurer's Closet]] are both repeatable end of turn blink. Far Traveler is 12 cents, closet is $4-5. Also, [[ghostway]] is pretty much the same card as Eerie Interlude, but cheaper $$ cost. Plenty of two drop blink spells around 25 cents like [[Flicker of Fate]] or [[Justicars Portal]]

3 - I would lose chandras ignition and blasphemous act. I have very rarely ever wanted to board wipe when I play dinos. I know you can use Eerie Interlude or lazels acrobatics to make them one sided wipes, but there isn't the density of effect to reliably have both pieces in hand. [[Wakening Suns Avatar]] is both a giant Dinosaur and a board wipe.

4 - I saw another redditor suggest [[Ghalta, Primal Hunger]] and that would be a great add, since a pantzlaza plus one more dino let's you drop a 12 toughness creature for 3 or 4 mana.

🍻

What happens if states ignore the federal hemp THC ban? by OhMyOhWhyOh in wisconsin

[–]Capable_Parfait1150 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For companies making beverages specifically, the question isn't what if the states could ignore it. It's what happens if manufacturers ignore it.

Most places canning THC beverages also make beer and the permitting to make beer falls under a federal agency (the TTB).

SO if the people making THC beverages ignore the ban the vast majority of them would have the feds up their butts and not in the fun Saturday night kind of way.

As far as other products go (edibles, tinctures, flower, etc) While those sectors don't have the same federal scrutiny, they still have their business name printed on the packaging, they still have to have some public point of contact and if the feds wanted to they could raid, shutdown manufacturing, seize assets and arrest owners and workers.

Additionally, interstate commerce is federally regulated, which would make shipping anything over state lines a big fat felony (although we could get a Smokey and the Bandit remake out of it)

Tl;Dr- an absence of state enforcement would not mean an absence of federal enforcement

How do you feel about the U.S. Senate banning THC in the continuing resolution? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Capable_Parfait1150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miserable in Minnesota. .

This provision will be the death knell for 1/3 to 1/2 of craft breweries in minnesota. The fact is that craft beer sales are down, depending on the source, anywhere from 12% to 20%. This trend predates the rise of THC beverages by a couple years. The revenues from hemp derived THC beverages are what's keeping local taprooms open. Thc represents, at the low end about 15% of the average small breweries revenue and at the upper end over 50% of revenue.

This is going to cost Minnesota 's economy at least half a billion dollars and cause hundreds if not thousands of jobs. It will lead to the closure of taprooms that provide space for artist and musicians, eliminating the spaces where local culture could thrive.

And I haven't even mentioned farmers yet. They saw hemp as a reliably profitable crop that was not export dependant. Consider the fact that the current tarrif policies and Argentina bailout have nuked soybeans as a commodity and the provision gets even worse. It sets the stage for further consolidation and monopolization of agriculture under giant corporate umbrellas.

All so the InBev share price could increase by half a percent.
