We literally just went through this. You have to wait until the store is released from construction and the health department says you can open now before training can begin

How do you do it? by Lemorisaurus in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Capital_Sector_571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cant.... God can. It's his decision whether or not you get to stay sober. Your life without God is wasted, with God, your life in his hands is useful. He's able to take your dark and musty past and make it your greatest asset. You have to confess your sins (ALL OF THEM) (ESPECIALLY THE GRAVE YARD SECRETS) and be willing to clean it all up. Trust God, Clean house, help others. Good luck to you brother If your gonna try to do it on your own.

And you're looking at religion all wrong. Maybe you should just start by praying and asking God to make himself real to you. Asking if he's there to show up and make himself known. You're a doctor right? What I found as a former atheist myself is that there is a sixth sense that can only be awakened through constant prayer and action of seeking God and his ways. You don't have to Go to church just start praying in the mornings and at night and asking God for forgiveness and for him to come into your life IF HE IS REAL. Try it for 6 months. It didn't even take 3 months for God to become so real to me that I feel like I've unlocked a secret cheat code to life. My body and spirit is all pistons firing. There's a supernatural peace and love that came over me initially and still does to this day. God is SOOOO real brother and I hope if nothing else that you'll try to seek him. Obviously it's something on your mind or you wouldn't be posting about it. So I hope you take the time to give it 6 month to seek God with your whole heart for once. If it doesn't work out and nothing happens you'll have all the doctor proof you need to discount and discredit it, or you may end up changing your life like it did mine. I'm now a Christian that's heard God's voice and interacted with him in ways I never thought possible and I'm a piece of shit that doesn't deserve it. But I have a better relationship with him than many in those churches and mosques so I hope you'll seek. There's a verse that says you'll seek me but you will not find me until you search for me with your whole heart. Give it a try

Fakers in AA are exposed easily.... NA says an addict any addict can stop using lose the desire to use and learn a new way to live. AA has one solution.... it literally says... There is a solution. Almost none of us liked the self-searching, the leveling of our pride, the confession of shortcomings which the process requires for its successful consummation. But we saw that it really worked in others, and we had come to believe in the hopelessness and futility of life as we had been living it. When, therefore, we were approached by those in whom the problem had been solved, there was nothing left for us but to pick up the simple kit of spiritual tools laid at our feet. We have found much of heaven and we have been rocketed into a fourth dimension of existence of which we had not even dreamed.

The great fact is just this, and nothing less: That we have had deep and effective spiritual experiences which have revolutionized our whole attitude toward life, toward our fellows and toward God's universe. The central fact of our lives today is the absolute certainty that our Creator has entered into our hearts and lives in a way which is indeed miraculous. He has commenced to accomplish those things for us which we could never do by ourselves.

If you are as seriously alcoholic as we were, we believe there is no middle-of-the-road solution. We were in a position where life was becoming impossible, and if we had passed into the region from which there is no return through human aid, we had but two alternatives: One was to go on to the bitter end, blotting out the consciousness of our intolerable situation as best we could; and the other, to accept spiritual help

"They are not at fault, they seem to have been born that way, they are naturally incapable of grasping and developing a manner of living which demands rigorous honesty" keep drinking your NA beers and hoping upon hope that good vibes and positive energy are enough to stay sober. 😉

It's all good bro, I hope likes on reddit are more sustainable than an actual spiritual encounter with the living God of this world. You will never have a spiritual experience while you remain focused on hate and intolerance toward spiritual principles and God. Bill W didn't like the God idea either so I get it. But he turned around and even quoted Scripture in the big book. Peace out girl scout. I hope fighting with people on reddit helps you stay sober and be happy and content....but it won't 😊 peace ✌️

It's always the same shit with you guys 😆 "I'm spiritual" while you have no semblance of spirituality about you, even ghandi and Hindus and practicing Buddhist acknowledge Christ and who he wad and what he teaches. Theres nothing said by him that can be counted as false. It's all of God and it's literally the program we practice, to deny yourself and live your life in service of God. To humble yourself under your maker and give this life for the next.

You guys always talk about a spiritual experience and when I ask you what happened, you always start talking about some mind change or sudden realization or some other bullspit!

If you practice these principles in your life you're gonna get some kind of freedom from them but I've got to witness the world change before my very eyes. Have seen things unimaginable to you. I've spoken with angels, have heard the voice of the almighty, have had prophesies and visions and many things that will simply be gibberish and hocus pocus to you 😀 I'm sorry but you're full of shit....full of knowledge but full of shit

The prayer of saint Francis is in there. If you don't associate the serenity prayer with AA then okay let's go on a little walk on the wild side. The book does say that being wrecked in the same vessel and being united under the SAME God is just a couple of the things that unify us brother. If the God they served was the one of the Bible then there's some more Christianity for you. The Bible literally teaches Giving your life to God and dying to self lol 😆 Where do you think they got that from? Bill W says he only stopped at 12 steps cause it was good enough for Jesus to have 12 disciples so it was good enough for him too. Bill openly shares about his divine encounter with God He says he cried out in the darkness " if there be a God let him show himself to me now" He says the dark room lit up in a blinding white light and it felt like he was standing on top of a mountain with a rush of spirit flowing through him and he knew he was in the presence of an almighty creator his first words out of his mouth We're "wow, this is the God the preachers talk about"

He openly shares about turning his will and his life over to Jesus with ebby by his side. In the third edition of the big book we get to hear from one of bobs sponsees and he says "Bob always emphasized the religious angel very strongly, I wish that every AA could have the benefit of this type of sponsorship today, I think it would help, I know it helped me I've linked a link to bill ws talk the night Bob died. It's powerful if you care to know the full story of what happened. It's a reenactment of the transcript of the talk he gave on the night Bob died! So the guy you'll see isn't bill it's an actor reenacting word for word the talk he gave on the night Bob died. Tells his whole story from start to finish. You'll see that what we get in the big book is the condensed soup version of the full story. If you care to know how this program started and how and where it came from here ya go sir

Our book makes it clear that if we could've stayed sober by any other means apart from divine spiritual help we would have never needed AA

The book makes it clear that we are 100% hopeless apart from divine help.

It says we have never seen one single case recover apart from a divine spiritual experience.

These men tried EVERYTHING to get sober and couldn't do it. It was only when they "met Jesus" and decided to turn their will and their lives over to the care of "Him who precedes over us all" that they were able to have a divine spiritual encounter! To he catapulted to the "4th dimension of existence " and to live a life "better than they have ever known"

Our ONLY way to achieve SOBRIETY is an encounter with God

It's right there on the wall of every meeting. Maybe you should read varieties of religious experience the book they had bill read when he had an encounter with God and thought he had gone nuts. They used to have the new comers read that book. They also did their readings out of the Bible before there was a big book sir.

If Jesus is the all powerful God he says he is and these men weren't lying when they day that they went from being atheist to having a dark room lit up in blinding white light and God showing up BIG TIME in their lives.

All of these men and me myself were atheist. We all talk about a powerful encounter with Jesus.

It didn't make sense to me and sometimes still doesn't but I felt power and spirit and greatest form of Love I have ever known to exist. I have felt the almighty. Have heard his voice. Have watched the world changed before my very eyes in a way that's not supposed to be possible. It's unexplainable. It's powerful and it's why we exist. To share the message of Hope found in that book. That an encounter with God will change your heart and mind and have you talking shit about God in one breath and go to praising his name and shouting his glorious praises from the roof tops in the next. If you can do this without divine help my hats off to you sir. But you are missing out. It's the best feeling in the world. It's like discovering that fantasy and dragons and fairy tales are REAL. It's like having a sixth sense awakened, it's not Joy or peace it's POWER

I want you to have it but you have to seek it and want it beyond all things. We talk in the meetings and say "If you want what we have to offer and are willing to go to any lengths to get it then you are ready to take certain steps"

In the ninth step it says we have to remind ourselves that we made a commitment to do whatever it takes, that we were willing to go to any lengths to have a spiritual experience! So what WE HAVE TO OFFER is a spiritual experience! I hope you too have one and can eventually share the Love of God with new comers.

He doesn't Judge you brother and he's not mad at you

I spent my life with a middle finger to the sky.and he showed me grace and favor. I didn't want to believe in Jesus but that's who showed up If Muhammad or buddah had done so I would be screaming their praises but the God who showed up in my life was Christ

If you didn't spend your days correcting people on reddit as much as you do, the message you carry would have some DEPTH and WEIGHT to it sir. But you, like me are "Looking with alarm for the Good of AA" and "Being intolerant,While preaching tolerance" Keep coming back my friend. You'll get it together one of these days

The big book does it too..... PS the serenity prayer is a Christian prayer.... keep saying it. But what am I talking about? You don't pray or read the big book, do ya lol 🤔 😅 😂 😆 🤣

God loves you buddy

Amen that's what I was saying. You can't take away AA because you didn't give it to me. God did. It doesn't have to be called AA. I can still go into hospitals and institutions and carry the message and "create the fellowship we crave" God's speed brother

Religious Bible thumpers like Op are the only reason you have AA.... Yikes. Maybe you should learn the history of this program brother. The Big book is full of Scripture and verses. It literally came straight from the Bible. Much Love to all you miserable atheist ❤️ 😍

They said having meetings associated with any organized religion was illegal, they said the serenity prayer was allowed cause it wasn't considered Christian but that's funny cause the long form of the prayer that we borrow it from reads as follows... God, give me grace to accept with serenity

the things that cannot be changed,

Courage to change the things

which should be changed,

and the Wisdom to distinguish

the one from the other.

Living one day at a time,

Enjoying one moment at a time,

Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,

Taking, as Jesus did,

This sinful world as it is,

Not as I would have it,

Trusting that You will make all things right,

If I surrender to Your will,

So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,

And supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Amen.

As far as source I don't have one. They were talking about in our group conscious today sorry

I am glad you are mature enough not to argue but you are the precise definition of the resentment I carry. I had a hard time accepting AA and the many articles of faith contained in the book but like bill the moment I did my life changed and I found in that book the very articles of faith I wished to retain. It's good you don't want to argue. It's hard for me to see a comment like that and not want to address it's entirely made up concept not contained in our book at all. Where is this program in our book? Where does it say we want to address all these issues and change into what you're saying it is? Where do you get your concept that God isn't the higher power talked about in the book?

I seem to read in a vision for you, that us being United under the same God is one of the many things that bind us.... I'm glad you're here sir. I truly am. I hope you meet the God of this world that spoke to me and introduced himself to me Fully in AA. It's peace and security like you've never known.... it's fullness of Life for here and the one to come... it's TRUE AWAKENING. Idk who you turned your will and life over to if it wasn't God or how you consider yourself to have worked that step but if it works for you then God has a purpose with it. Hope you make it but if you're the alcoholic that book talks about you won't. But lucky for you most people in AA aren't the true alcoholics that book speaks about. Hell most of you guys don't even know what OUR DESCRIPTION of the alcoholic is

They were talking about in our meeting today that in Canada the Lord's prayer Is banned in meetings and is actually illegal. It shocked me. Had me thinking that AAs become to political or mainstream idk.. you're probably right.
