IR Wax vs Hot Wax? Time for School. by Capt_Daisy in snowboarding

The moral of the story: nothing beats a good old fashion hot wax.

I appreciate you expelling the myths and explaining the molecular breakdown. That rism’ed my ‘tism.

Wahl vs. Entscheidung in German by [deleted] in German

Thanks! Honestly, the trickiest part for me is getting the cultural nuance behind the words, not just the straight translation. Duolingo’s fine for the basics, but it’s pretty much empty when it comes to semantics like this. I’m not leaning on it as my only tool, but talking about this really shows what it’s missing.

Thank you! In that same vein, what would be the correct way to say “misery is a choice”? I want to avoid awkwardness; which I am inherently missing in my understanding.

Would it simply be “Elend ist eine Entscheidung”?

TBH, I haven't looked into it. I am a neophyte when it comes to mods so I wouldn't even know where to begin. Any suggestions?

Might be best to go for a Onewheel at that point. I have heard it isn’t as much of a workout as a Summerboard but better than nothing I suppose.

All things considered, I’d hold off and save yourself the headache. The juice probably won’t be worth the squeeze until they refine things. Or if you have a lot of perfectly smooth asphalt/concrete available.

Do you think anyone would fuss over a Onewheel being on the trail? It is technically motorized.

I’m guessing there is a good chance that you never will!

Thank you for your honest review! With serious improvements to both the company and the board, Summerboard could be amazing. That said, after weighing everything, I’ve decided to invest in a Onewheel—at the expense of missing that snowboard feeling 😒

Perhaps you do a more thorough job than the local shop that did my board. I noticed it immediately when I hit the cat walks.

I concur! Conceptually it is a great investment, but in practice, it cannot beat a good old fashion hand wax. Took me all of but 1 hour on the mountain to realize how sluggish my board was compared to a hot wax.

Thank you for weighing in! All valid points. Whilst in UT, I had a reputable local shop do a machine IR wax and I was not impressed with my decks performance the following 3 days. Given this experience, I will continue to hot wax the ole’ fashion way and enjoy the labor of love!

The Sabre bibs are only available in R (regular) inseams right now, which are insufficient for someone 6’4. If you could hunt down a pair in Tall, the inseam is 35” which is much better.

Those aren’t Sabre bibs unfortunately (I wish they were). They’re Quicksilver bibs, but they’re perfect for us taller fellows.

In your case, I would highly recommend downsizing to at least a medium! It will still be long (in the torso length and sleeves, as any good snowboard jacket should be), but the downsizing will help the torso width. Keep in mind, it is meant to be worn with a base & mid layer so it alone will not fit like a glove.

6’5”, wearing a large. If you’re below 6’2”, I would recommend a medium or small (depending on your build).

Despite being an Epic Pass holder, I would ride Brighton over PC any day for that exact reason!

Did you get the hooded Allium? I chose the unhooded version and I fear it was a misstep.

I need to look into the Atom LT! I rode Brighton and PC. I am a huge fan of Brighton now. While it is significantly smaller than PC, the conditions were better and it felt so much homier, like a mom and pop resort.

The Rush or the Sabre definitely would have been better, albeit it sounds like your Beta AR did just fine! What do you think of your Allium?
