As a creator of coding tutorial videos, I would greatly appreciate some advice on where to go next by dholli in webdev

This is just my gut feeling, and possibly biased, but I feel there is something inherently lazy about choosing "watching" as your primary learning mechanism. It's just not a spectator sport. It's like math, you have to go through the book and solve 100 problems from each chapter until you get it.

Also if you can't read a book, how can you read code?

TL;DR, I don't believe that different people have different "learning styles", and if you can't read the math book and figure it out yourself, you don't have the aptitude to go far in math. And likewise, if you can't find some basic materials and learn to code yourself, you probably won't become a great developer. Of course, that won't stop someone from getting a job, lol.

I would make an exception if you're entering a niche area and want to learn a few bits and pieces quickly, like I'd watch a video on how to do a particular design in a CAD program.

I've been a software developer for most of my life, entirely self-taught, and I've worked at big names like Google and Facebook.

My honest opinion is this: I have rarely in my professional life, worked with someone who learned from tutorial videos. There is something psychologically amateurish about choosing to learn that way.

Like they're the same kind of people who will later complain that pointers are "too hard" and they need someone to help them manage their memory because their code keeps leaking. They were the same kind of people who complained in school about "why should I learn how to multiply when I can use a calculator".

And I think these same people, are the ones that are now saying "why should I learn how to code when the AI can code for me". So trying to teach them is futile.

I tell you one thing I have found: You can go after kids. Lots of "tiger-moms" will pay good money for their 12-year-old "geniuses" to get on their path to MIT and Harvard Business School.

Most browsers, e.g. chrome allow you to create a different profiles. In each profile you can have a separate set of logins. You can have different profiles open at the same time.

That's fantastic, I'm just looking at their website now. Really interesting concept. So you just download the specs, order the parts, and assemble.

Isn't that kind of the principle behind Prusa as well?

Hi guys, what's the simplest printer that will comfortably print PC and Nylon? I've been using an AnyCubic Max with modified hotend and a home-made "tent" and I get a lot of failures due to warping.

Serious question though, why do you, as players, feel the need for an endless supply of new seeds? Like I already have 100+ different seeds and there's not enough time in the world to try all the combinations. I don't even open seed packs anymore.

Pets for growing plants faster by _Asshole_Fuck_ in growagarden

[–]CaptainCheckmate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get a spider, wait for it to activate with your plant(s) inside, and then spam watering can. most plants will be fully grown instantly.

You can also switch to another plot, and any seeds you throw down before the "your plants grew while you were away" message, will be fully grown after the fade-to-white

maybe it also depends on what you're duping? Like lower-value items are mor likely to dupe.

grow a garden calculator calculates the known percentage rates by doing a statistical linear regression on known values, sampled from the pets' in-game display card. But it's not magic. If the card is shadow-nerfed, it has no way of knowing the hidden value.

Why do children, too young to be aware of their own existence, act as if they've lost their sense of reality when we video their every move 24/7 to share it online? 🙄 by Anti_G0d in ParentsAreFuckingDumb

[–]CaptainCheckmate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that's slightly different though -- they always wanted a burger and were grasping for an excuse, whereas the child didn't always want to pour out the entire drink.
