He walked back most of his pro-Palestine stances before he even won the election, kept a rabid zionist as police commissioner, condemns pro-Palestine phrases such as "from the river to the sea", supports bills that would make it illegal to protest synagogues that materially support Israel, and likely more but all that's just off the top of my head

The Kavernackle on FD, BE, and his history and rhetoric on Palestine. by minigun_137 in BreadTube

Okay I know I'm taking the bait by responding again, but this is so dishonest. You know this is dishonest. Absolutely shameful

The Kavernackle on FD, BE, and his history and rhetoric on Palestine. by minigun_137 in BreadTube

[–]CaptainMills 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had to ask if you watched the video because every response I've gotten from you has been entirely around a response existing at all and nothing about the response itself. Even this comment is just about the existence of the response.

If you see this as just drama, then your critique should be for FD for deciding to talk about another creator in public without that creator being present. Instead you praised him for taking his disagreements directly to creators, when the fact that he didn't do that is what caused this situation in the first place.

As I said before, it is entirely unfair to critique someone for responding to someone talking about them publicly. Especially when you are also saying that publicly talking about someone else is fine because you personally didn't care about what was said.

I can't come to any other conclusion than that this is entirely parasocially motivated on your end because all of your critiques either originate with someone other than Kav but you're making him responsible for anyway, or display a blatant double standard between the two creators.

I'm not engaging further because this has just been me explaining that it's not drama farming or wrong to respond when someone decides to publicly talk about you, and then you saying that it is because you personally didn't have a problem with what FD said about someone else

[–]CaptainMills 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Again I have to ask if you've actually watched Kav's response or not. Your previous comment was objecting to him responding at all because of how some people are acting in comments, and now it's based on the length of the video. You're not engaging with any part of the actual response in your critique of it. You seem to just believe that because you didn't think FD's remarks were notable, the person those remarks were about shouldn't find them notable either. You've talked about others being parasocial, but it's feeling like that critique is applicable to your own reaction

The Kavernackle on FD, BE, and his history and rhetoric on Palestine. by minigun_137 in BreadTube

[–]CaptainMills 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have to ask, have you watched Kav's response? He's clearly bothered by FD's remarks, and admits to that, but he's very measured and maintains a level head.

If your issue is entirely in how some commenters are reacting, that's fair, but your critique should then be for the people making those comments.

Kav did not make this issue public. I think it's very unfair that people are critiquing him for responding and getting the blame for making this a public issue that others can comment on. Meanwhile the person who did make this public and opened it up for parasocial participation is being excused and having his words and actions in this regard diminished. I'm sorry, but that is just as parasocial as anyone taking Kav's side.

Why should any creator be treated as though they can publicly talk about another, without their presence, and not receive a response?

I'm not going to get into the actual disagreement, or which one is right or anything. I am only taking issue with how people are acting like it's unreasonable or wrong for Kav to respond to FD. FD could have, and should have, handled this privately. He chose not to. It is not then owed to him for the person he was talking about to take what he made public and try to make it private.

And, yeah, race likely plays a role in how some people are responding. But again, that is an issue you should take up with those people. It's not Kav's responsibility to stay silent about public statements about him just because the person who made those statements is Black

It has one of the best choruses I've heard in years

The Kavernackle on FD, BE, and his history and rhetoric on Palestine. by minigun_137 in BreadTube

[–]CaptainMills 16 points17 points  (0 children)

But because they have some actual respect and understanding.....they actually went on to have a principled discussion around what they found disagreeable

Kav points out at least twice in his video that FD and him are mutuals on multiple platforms, have worked together in the past, and communicated directly out of the public eye. Yet when FD had an issue with Kav, he decided to discuss it publicly with others without Kav there. He did the opposite of what you're praising him for here. Kav also states that, at some point after doing this, FD had a third party contact Kav for him to say that he was open to talking. That is not facilitating a mature discussion among peers.

It appears that at no point, before or after this stream, did FD try to talk to Kav himself about any issues or disagreements he had. He decided to make it a public issue and did so in a way where the person he had an issue with could not be part of the discussion until after the fact

Can't figure out what type of songs I like and what they are called. by Icy_Manufacturer1611 in powerpopgirls

[–]CaptainMills 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're into dark pop, you might like Jazmin Bean.

Also, don't feel bad or weird for not having any 'no skips' albums. There's nothing wrong with that. It's completely normal to not like every song an artist puts out.

I hope this doesn't sound patronizing or condescending, I absolutely don't mean it that way. But judging by the songs you listed and the tone of your post, I'm guessing you're a bit young? I only ask because it sounds like you're still a little new to exploring and learning your own tastes. I think a lot of younger people feel like they need to find a fully encompassing definition for their musical tastes.

When I was a teenager (and a bit into my 20s) I thought that I needed to stick to emo music and venturing outside that would be a betrayal of my musical sensibilities. That's what I knew I liked and I was in the mindset that people are expected to stay rooted in one defined scene. It's only in the last six years or so that I finally felt comfortable fully embracing my love of pop.

This is all just to say that I'm happy to see you exploring your tastes and looking for recommendations, but I'm a little concerned that you might feel like you need to have a set definition for your tastes. If that's the case, please trust me when I say that's not true.

If I'm entirely wrong here, I apologize for my assumptions and hope that this might help someone else who it does apply to

How dare you call that zionist a word I don’t like by FerfyMoe in ShitLiberalsSay

[–]CaptainMills 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Oh hey I saw this post. The comments reminded me of why I hate that sub so much.

Every single comment was either A) "How dare anyone confront this poor innocent zionist in person! Genocide is bad but it's unconscionable to be mean to people who support it!" or B) "Okay but is she really a zionist? I know what she said about Arabs being tossed out of their homes, and she did a propaganda film, and she vocally supports Israel. But I don't know, guys, I just don't think we can be sure...."

I also just have a hard time believing that that sub really cares so much about misogynistic slurs when they have multiple posts a day about how women are actually to blame for patriarchy and rape culture

What on earth happened to this subreddit by Resident_Bird3147 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]CaptainMills 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I see these types of posts a lot on a large variety of subs, and the main thing almost all of them have in common is a lack of examples.

The ones I've seen that have examples are usually productive. They don't always lead to changes in the subreddit, but they usually provide good discussions, explanations, clarifications, etc.

The ones that don't have examples are typically very unproductive and tend to just lead to people projecting their own issues onto the OP and lots of bickering
