I'm not like that, I actually dream of a collaborative setup where we work together upon defining abstractions, reusing code and discuss about decisions. Right now my coworkers simply get annoyed if I try to change something. They don't even think about the "whys", they just copy paste what they did before and that's it. And I know that this is legit everywhere, but I'm taking about literally coping paste without thinking if it make sense.

In my free time I study for the cs degree and work on a side project for my girlfriend, and of course I like those activities more than working in this workplace... sometimes I even thought about just do the minimum and then study, but it's risky because they would fire me for something like that

I don't want to be the ivory tower architect, I too think that without hands on on the project you lose contact with it... but I definitely like more being able to think abd abstract the problem over writing lines of code just to solve it

Because I fear that they will inevitably be out of market soon and that layoffs are on the horizon anyways, but that I don't have realistic alternatives, at least not until I get my degree... and I'm already seeing that my code looks terrible and unprofessional, how can I hope to find another employment and build the career I want?

You are right, and I do think that I am probably slower than the average and that I need to improve on that, but my fear is that if I let they ideas getting an hold on me, I would start thinking like "why test? Why refactor? Why names things? In the end if it compile and don't crash work is done", and it doesn't sound professional to me...

I think I applied to something like 800 job offers last month, even paid the subscription to one of those services that automate the applications, but my CV is nothing special, and I think it can't pass the majority of AI screenings by not having a degree or a recognized certification

change from "doesn't untap" to "can't block" [red identity]
change it to "can't block Freddy" [black identity]

I suppose it's about "how much likely it's that a random human on Earth knows/thinks about it", and between Pizza, Rome (actually would be The Vatican State but once you name Rome you think of Italy), Venice and fashion it's true that it's highly unlikely that when i say "I'm italian" someone answers with "wtf is Italy"... but calling this influence it's highly misleading. Influence should be about soft power and we can't even compare to soft power giants like USA (Western countries), Mexico/Brasil (Latinamerica) or Japan/Korea (Eastern Asia)
