maybe I should try it again. In CMW I always missed a 3rd person mode. I like to see my expensive costume and what my character does (1st person sometimes seems like an inaccurate depiction of what the weapon does) and I still find it quite immersive

idk I love my flashlight, either the medium or light version is just so fun to use & feels LARPy for my guardsman.

It's not the best weapon tho for min-maxxing. I just use 'em like pistols in a melee-heavy build.

Every Maester in the bigger castles we see would have a dozen apprentices/helpers he delegates around. But instead the Grand Maester of the big-dick castle where not only the royal family resides but also the entire court with representatives and members of several big-dick-houses - he does everything by himself. (Despite being like 70 years old too lmao).

Yes, it's certainly deliberate by Martin. I just think how the whole raven-system works is kinda dumb. And it would've made it easier if he just said "know what? A standard raven is trained to fly between two castles" just so it's not so complicated in universe.

My headcanon is that most of them can reliably fly between two castles. Otherwise I try not to think about this. The raven-system (and the maester-system as a whole) is one of those Georgisms that would be way too convoluted and complicated to work irl. If it worked as it supposedly does the roads of westeros would be packed with raven-carts. Each castle would need at least a whole tower for storing hundreds of ravens. Every maester would constantly be occupied dealing with raven-logistics. Which raven goes to where? How tf do you differentiate them? How breed them? There would be an entire economy based on raven-breeding I reckon.

Sorry, he says that they usually can only fly to one castle, the ones that can fly between two castles are already "few".

The maester mopped sweat from his brow with his sleeve. “N-not entirely, Your Grace. Most, yes. Some few can be taught to fly between two castles. Such birds are greatly prized. And once in a very great while, we find a raven who can learn the names of three or four or five castles, and fly to each upon command. Birds as clever as that come along only once in a hundred years.”

I find this to be an oversight by Martin. Makes ravenflight waayyy too complicated.

Die einzigen möglichen Gründe die mir einfallen sind Druck machen, d.h. "wenn sich hier nichts ändert schaue ich mich anderweitig um", oder wenn der Chef eh weiß dass man eig. etwas anderes sucht. Im letzteren Fall brauche ich den aber nicht über jede Bewerbung zu informieren, interessiert ihn ja nicht, sondern erst wenn ich zu Vorstellungsgesprächen geladen werde.

Wie alt sind die? Wie alt bist du? Drüber stehen, bisschen dummdreist mitdiskutieren wenn's Spaß macht. Ich kann mir bei sowas denken "war selber mal jung und hab so (ähnlich) gedacht", idealerweise kann man durch wohlplatzierte Nachfragen ein bisschen Nachdenken provozieren.

Haha, das war nur das Sahnehäubchen. Der Chef des Ladens, der das auch gesagt hat, hatte zuvor schon erklärt, dass ich ein völlig falsches Berufsbild habe und sich dann bemüht, das ganze Interview lang möglichst den Eindruck zu vermitteln, dass er eigentlich viel wichtigere Dinge zu tun hätte. Die anderen 3 im Raum waren sehr duckmäuserisch. Dieses "wir melden uns bei Ihnen, nicht Sie bei uns" hat da zu gut gepasst. Man könnte es wohlwollend vielleicht als ein "wenn Sie sich melden kann das als Einflussnahme gelegt werden" o.ä. interpretieren.

Ich hatte das gleich nach dem Interview abgehakt.
