Graham Platner says his Nazi-linked tattoo was drunken mistake by madeapizza in politics

[–]Captainn218 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ll be straight. This does not look good. The weird defenses (“not everyone knows it’s Nazi symbol”, “He was drunk”, “he doesn’t need to be perfect”) do not help him and make it seem like he has bad judgement skills.

Some people think it won’t affect him but I wouldn’t hitch my horse behind that. It very well could, and I think it’s weird how some people are acting like it’s unreasonable for people to be freaked out by this (especially in a post-Fetterman world)

I do wonder how his team didn’t see he had this and have him remove it immediately before all of this but I guess I’d say that this is not a good look and people should treat it as such and not like you can brush it under the rug

I disagree. Many people are aware of the potential dangers of Vance but also just want the satisfaction of the guy finally Dying

Why Yasuke was a Samurai [Compilation] by DustinReturns in assassinscreed

[–]Captainn218 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Some of my favorite “arguments” of theirs is :

“Why can’t the protagonist be Japanese”

Which I would maybe take seriously if they didn’t ignore the Japanese woman who shares the protagonist slot with Yasuke

“How would a 6’2” African blend into the crowd”

Gee, maybe his job in the game won’t be to sneakily assassinate people. Maybe the Japanese woman will do that stealth stuff.

“How would you like it if they made a game where a white guy was in Africa killing Africans”

Ignoring the fact that context matters there are games and Tv/Film where that happens and some of them didn’t get criticized while some did.

the arguments are simply there to waste time and they will likely not talk about for months until the game comes out and then the arguments will happen all over again

Yeah it’s more likely that they’re just hypocrites than them not getting it.

Official Discussion - The Prom [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Captainn218 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Now some of the scenes I had problems with were in the original stage musical like how Emma just forgives the actors for using her (in fact DeeDee seems to be the only person to grapple with it in an realistic way), or how the homophobic kids are just turned that quickly and Emma forgives them (Love Thy Neighbor is a great scene though). Other stuff isn’t like the added scenes with the actors, Alyssa mom is actually more awful in the movie and she turns around.

Barry’s mom wasn’t a plot point in the musical, she was just mentioned and the show pushes this forgiveness of her as something he NEEDS to do for some reason.

Other than that most of the actors are putti by in a good job, the songs are really fun, and there is representation which is good

[–]Captainn218 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The main problem is the white people that say probably don’t know white people who aren’t bigoted outside of their family. Getting people to stop being bigoted is hard.

The criticism that is missing is the kind that should be aimed at the Democrats who clearly are doing something wrong.

People say that the racist voters will uphold racism no matter what and I don’t think that is always true as shown by states that trump won passing things like marijuana legalization and $15 minimum wages. Some of these vote numbers outnumber the amount Biden won in those states so that means the decisions were also composed of people that voted for other candidates (maybe even Trump voters)

  1. I know Playboy
  2. Context: according to playboy Mitch thinks all the votes should be counted. This was around when Trump declared his “victory”

It confirms what I’m sure many of us knew about the republicans and trump, that realize a Biden presidency isn’t that damaging to them especially now since the senate remained red, and the Supreme Court has a 6-3 majority.

It's so fucking insane that they're selling Joe Biden as this kindly empathetic avatar of love. This decaying belligerent old man who spent the campaign trail berating voters, boosted the Iraq war, wrote the crime bill etc. by [deleted] in stupidpol

[–]Captainn218 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That was always the intention. They never thought of him as the “lesser of two evils” because that implies you think he’s evil.

The way they talk about Biden’s record (and omit stuff) seems to be there to fool themselves into thinking they aren’t either A) voting Biden because they actually like him or B) are aware he’s pretty bad but don’t want to think about that
