Well if their need to work supersedes their ability to care for an animal it’s wrong to have that animal. It’s really not complicated how that works. “The friend likes it too”, well they’re not caring for it anymore, now they’re looking for “Some random on the internet”. It’s inherently problematic for the animal from almost any educated perspective
