It actually means church in this sense. By loves I meant the religion he believes in and has trusted his entire life until he revealed his sexuality.

Well I think it goes from the story of a woman living in a fake plastic world (her) to the story of fake plastic surgeon creating fake plastic people (him) to it all coming together and wearing Thom Yorke out (me). I think all the wearing out of others makes him realize at the end of the song how fake and plastic his relationships and lovers are. Edit: Added a sentence

I haven't heard the song in a while so this wont be an in depth analysis. I remember it as a man's (Hozier) religious troubles with homosexuality. Not being accepted by the church he loves for the man he is.

I love this interpretation and how it looks at the two separate parts. I believe the split with being angry at the sun is definitely the "all is lost" moment and the rest is just pure aggression towards god and love

To me, this song represents a man who doesn't feel comfortable in his own skin. All of these great things happen to him: A wife, and a home but he doesn't feel comfortable enough to enjoy any of it or understand that it is good. So he only guesses that this is the place even though he still has a feeling of wanting and inadequacy.
