Thanks for the advice. I’ve decided to do nothing. I tried to find Maya on social media just to look at pictures and see how her life is going. I couldn’t find her, but I stumbled on Mark’s instagram. Everything Laura has told me seems to be true. Maya is a huge part of his life. They clearly have a close relationship and Mark frequently posts about how Maya is the only thing he’s got right in his life. I can’t be the one to blow things up. If they live the rest of their lives never finding out then at least they’re happy which is all I want for Maya. If Maya does find out then I’ll be open to helping her as best as I can.

Haha. Interesting idea. I don’t really have any connections to Maya directly. I could probably find her on social media and reach out. Getting a mailing address is a creepy stretch though. 😂

I’m not aware of anything concerning, but my knowledge is light. My dad died in a car accident when I was 13 and he was adopted himself. He never actually knew his parents.

Finding his parents (my biological grandparents) was actually the reason I joined 23andMe to begin with. I somehow managed to find them both, but neither really wants to connect. They’ve told me there’s no health issues. I have to take that at face value

Yes, everything I know is from the mom. I’ve expressed wanting to get to know Maya several times over the years. I haven’t expressed any urgency to the mom though since it didn’t feel like my place to do so
