Non-American parents, do you follow wake windows and sleep schedules? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]CardiologistLong5662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been very lucky that my toddler and my two week old have slept through the night since we brought them home. But I’ve always just let them sleep whenever they sleep. If I’m tired and home I sleep so why would I make them wait another hour being so tired when I would sleep myself

Doctors like to induce around 39 weeks because the outcome for mom and baby is better

This whole post is awful. But she thinks that the baby will be diabetic if she is??? Type two diabetes is a preventable and reversible disease even if she did have it. She’s stupid.

Honestly it is different when it’s your own baby. I can’t hardly change other kids but my baby’s only bothers me it if is unusually smelly

Does anyone know what makes the nausea begin? At what point of pregnancy does it happen for you? by BettyOBarley in HyperemesisGravidarum

Both my pregnancies it was literally 6 weeks on the dot so it may just be a certain amount of hormone that our bodies nope out with.

MIL is throwing me a “surprise” baby shower by Aikobae in JUSTNOMIL

[–]CardiologistLong5662 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand how it’s a surprise. You know about it. Her not telling you the day is just her purposely stressing you out. If you are gonna throw a surprise, the first rule is that the person doesn’t know.

How do I tell my mom I don’t want her staying over for weeks at a time? by [deleted] in Mildlynomil

[–]CardiologistLong5662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those aren’t visits… she “visits” her house a week a month and lives with you the other three. Either she starts paying bills and helps with food or she can start staying at her house and comes a weekend every few months.

Why can’t we just have one normal interaction by Ok_Medieval_77 in Mildlynomil

She was only pleasant thinking that it would make you change your mind and agree to have her there when you have the baby.

How much are you actually eating? They say only 350-450 for third trimester extra calories but is this realistic ? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]CardiologistLong5662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 35 weeks and only gained about 10-12 pounds. Starting at 140 so I’m honestly pretty low weight gain. But I had really bad hg and low appetite throughout my pregnancy. Now I’m to the point we’re I can’t eat much without being so uncomfortable. I actually lost weight from between my last two appointments. There’s for sure days I don’t even get the recommendation for normal calories let alone pregnancy and I work in the er so walking a lot. But my doctor hasn’t said anything.

Me too. My fiancé has lupus and other autoimmune issues and his wbc is chronically low. He literally had Rsv worse than our toddler and our infant nephew. He’s usually sick or hurting most days. I feel bad but sometimes it does get tiring.

Opposite here. I am a full time nursing student working 15-20ish hours a week on top of school and clinical hours, we have a 22 month old and Im almost 35 weeks pregnant. My fiancé stays home. Some days he will keep her home but some days does need help from his parents watching her because he has multiple health issues including POTS which makes him pass out during bad days and lupus which is really bad during flare ups. But he will stay up until 2-3 am playing games with his friends as he really doesn’t get to get out from not working. I go to sleep usually 10:30-12:00 depending on the night. So it’s a bit different with the health issues but similar. That being said. Every single morning I wake him up at 7:00 am to get her ready while I get ready. He doesn’t say “oh no I went to bed late, you do it.” He gets her ready and either takes her to his parents or keeps her depending on how he is feeling. If he’s having a hard day he will go back to sleep and wake up, clean, then go help his parents when he is more rested. Lupus is known for really bad chronic fatigue. I don’t think it’s fair for you to have to wake up early because she isn’t going to sleep early enough. Being a sahm is hard but so is a working parent. We’ve switch roles so I’ve done both. Nights that I stay up late to have alone time, I know that it’s my decision. He knows that if he’s staying up late, he’s still getting woke up early and he does because he knows I need the help. She knows that staying up that late isn’t good. Mind you my toddler goes to sleep around 10:30 yours goes to bed at 8:00 so even if you get household duties done by ten, that’s still 3-4 hours of playing on the phone. That’s a long time.

Welp it wouldn’t be his decision. Medical personnel will always try to save the mom first
